I like Cousins for the safety and known production and Williams. Wilson and Cousins is a pretty solid way to go though too.

Honestly, me neither, but I don't really play Superflex. This is for a friend's draft, and he claims everyone in the league has played dynasty before. Not really sure about that...

There's actually 2 pick before my friend is up so we are going:

Kirk Cousins
Garrett Wilson
Zack Wilson (if we can't grab Kirk)
Jameson Williams (he's low on him)

in that order. Thanks, everyone!

Really don't get your team build here. Qb and RB is build like compete now, but wr and TE is build like you're out a year or two

I'll try to make this simple:

If you are going to compete now I'd take cousins and Sutton. If you are going to wait a year or two I'd take the two Wilsons and then look to move Javonte.

How is running back built as win now? 1st and 2nd year rbs can’t be drafted to win in 2023?

RB careers are shorter, those young wrs can take 2-3 years to develop. His rbs are going to be putting up their best numbers when his wrs are not and his wrs are going to be putting up their best numbers when his rbs are not.

If trading wasn’t allowed I’d agree. Building a future team is about acquiring assets that gain value. Once your team has excess of value you trade to win. Would I have drafted like this? Probabaly not, I prefer to trade down and acquire future drafts picks and not hit rb so that I can “tank” year 1, but that doesn’t mean javonte and walker aren’t guys that can gain value from this year to next. Walker for 1 isn’t a win now asset at all really IMO.

I don’t know if I could avoid taking Cousins and Wilson. Wilson has a bit of a leash with draft capital and WRs like Wilson and Williams are easier to replace. Usually, QBs are cheapest during the startup.

except that this is the startup draft. the value of the players is being established as they are drafted. If he's drafting for players to gain value its still better to grab the wrs and not the RBs. you'll also note i didn't say to trade away Walker, just Williams. Walker's perceived value is lower than what his likely value is, while Javonte's is higher than his true value.

We looked to acquire the most value at each pick and take shots on some talented players that might gain significant value over the next year or two.

The top QBs were off the board by pick 12/13, as were Chase, Jefferson, Lamb, Najee, and JT so we took elite options at TE and RB in Pitts/Javonte.

At 36/37 a second batch of QBs were gone (Stafford fell a bit) and then we picked up Higgins, who's valued as high as 12th overall in KTC.

At 60/61 we took Hollywood because my friend is a big believer and Walker because he fell ~15 spots, and was the last young, workhorse RB that had the potential to gain a lot of value fast.

At 86/87, we just drafted Kirk Cousins and Jameson Williams as Garrett Wilson was taken 1 spot before.

Also, no options to trade back, the entire league wanted to do that, and no smart owner is forgoing their future in a dynasty startup...

So here is the problem. Saying draft BPA during a rookie draft is good process, because you really only care about hitting your rookies. Drafting BPA for startups is not good process, you should be drafting the best player for your team build. The reason for this is two fold:

(1) since everyone has a pick every round the relative values of the players is established as the draft happens. Being able to flip the BPA for a player 1-2 rounds earlier is not likely to happen.

(2) if you draft a team that is not consistently built you will likely be a middle of the road team, which is the worst type of team. Not good enough to win, not crappy enough to get a good pick.
