Was this a dumb trade?

I got Jordan Love and 2.05 for the 1.10

This is for team 3 in sig. Non-ppr superflex. I'm pretty shaky at QB and I'm a middle of the road team with some decent upside. I've been hearing rumors that a few teams are really interested in trading for Love, so wanted to make the deal before the draft started. I also feel like I can get a similar prospect at either WR or QB with the 2.05 that I would have gotten at 1.10.

What do you think of the trade and the logic behind it? TIA

I don't think Love will ever start anywhere, so I think you gave up the 1.10 for the 2.05 essentially. Love has looked pretty bad in hid rare starts and although he could still develop, I would not count on it and I certainly would not have bet on him at the price. Hopefully he pans out though for you long term.

Yeah I’m afraid I don’t like this trade. Only premium QBs have a value in 1QB leagues and I don’t think Love will ever be that even with his curling at this point. Definitely going down a tier in player as well in the draft. Not a game changer your fine but just be careful overpaying for QBs in a 1QB league

I don't like it, but you dropped 7 spots; so it's a low-stake gamble. I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

It is a super flex, but I’m with gator. Been in the league for awhile and is not developing.

Ya I definitely wasn't super excited about the trade but also besides a few players in that first tier of the draft, I really don't like many players this year. So I guess I talked myself into getting 2 shots vs 1 at hitting on players that I don't really like, but probably should have held out til after the draft and shopped the 1.10 on its own. Oh well, hopefully Love gets traded to the Falcons or something, fingers crossed. Thanks for the opinions and honesty.

I've learned not to be too quick to call a trade dumb. Especially when the stakes are low. As a previous poster stated, you dropped 7 spots to roll the dice on a young QB. This league is unpredictable, something could always happen that resulted in Love starting this year and whomever you would have taken at the 1.10 may not pan out. All that said, I would not have made this trade if I were on your side of the table.

I also looked at my own personal tier breaks.
1st Tier - Hall, Willis, Walker, Wilson, London, Olave, Jameson, Burks, Pickett maybe Dotson to round out top 10
2nd Tier - Corral, Ridder, Howell, Spiller, Sky Moore, Pickens, Watson.

So I guess I looked at it like would I rather have Dotson or Love and any of the players in the 2nd tier, so logically i think it kind of works but I am regretting not waiting at least til the draft was over to trade, but I was and still am thinking Love could get moved before the draft is over, which then maybe the other owner pulls the trade. It was a gamble for sure though. Just hope it pays off, cuz I do like Dotson.
