The NFL is consistently out of step with what their fans want. Like, who's really sitting at home watching football and getting upset when players taunt after making a play? Who's getting angry when WRs stare down a corner after making a great catch?

It's like they expect players to be robots.

This could end up costing a team a playoff game. It's that bad. Just let the players play and express themselves.

I agree in certain situations. Spiking the ball at a guy, or flexing in a guys face, standing over top of him, yeah, don't like it. I think there's way too much posturing and peacocking in today's game. Not expecting them to be robots, but don't need a bunch of crap after a 7 yard reception all the time. My issue is what they are calling, and what they aren't. Trash talking is part of the game. I have no issues with that. I didn't feel the call on the Bears player tonight was an issue at all.

Foodie. Mild sauce goes in the trash. Well done steak goes with it.

Habaneros make the best hot sauce. Throwing a bunch of random stuff on top of fries doesn't mean you call it "poutine".

eh, they managed to get the lead.

Would it have helped to have some extra time? ya for sure. But they scored with too much time left, and they shot themselves in the foot on defense and allowed PIT to take the lead back.

I can't blame that on one call

You literally have math in your name. What's the point of that stat other than to mislead?
What's misleading about that? It's currently a fact.

Go back and read my entire statement. People are disappointed in Kelce because he isn't providing the huge positional advantage this year as in year's past. I was also responding to a post that said Kelce is the league leader in TD's this year at the TE. That is true, but shared with the 4 other TEs that I listed.
Points in my .5ppr league

Kelce - 118
Knox - 71
Uzomah - 74
Henry - 75
Ertz - 65

Exactly.

I think taunting is a stupid thing to do and I don't want to see it from my Niners, but if you don't want to see it, then don't let them make plays that allow them to do it. It's that simple.

Also, taunting usually backfires anyway. For many players it burns a fire in them that makes them want to get even.

These calls are so hard for refs to make. It's not a black and white thing in most cases, it's a gray area and you need to basically guess if a flag needs to be thrown or not.

I don't like the rule. I hate taunting but I don't like the rule.

Agree with this. I think of this every time a team is accused of running up the score, or not taking out the starters when up big. I think Belichick and the early 2000s Rams were accused of this many times.

That was just one of several big calls down the stretch.

Sometimes calls are so one sided it looks like someone paid off the ref.

That hip checking ref needs to be suspended, investigated, and possibly removed from the game.

I had no skin in the game but at least 3 phantom calls and one cost a TD.

You just want to ignore the fact it extended a drive which resulted in a Pitt FG, in a game the Bears lost by 2?

Just when they finally got CELEBRATING big plays and TDs right, they go overboard on this taunting crap. As usual, NFL overcorrecting like every big business.

There's far too much posturing with crap like this - like someone already said, who the hell's getting "offended" when a player makes a great play and briefly stares down a defender? Who gives a crap?

It's one thing to flamboyantly or aggressively show someone up for a long period of time - which I think is what was or should be INTENDED with this rule - it's quite another with these minor "transgressions."

Falls in the bucket of you could throw a flag on every play to me. Yeah, let's flag every stare-down, swear word, and gesture too? Let's make the game suck more! Protect the children!! ...from what, exactly? Minor adversity in a... competitive sport?

It's hilariously stupid. LET THEM PLAY!

This happens every week, every month, every season. Refs make bad calls. And objectively, a bad call in the 1st quarter of a game is no more or less impactful than a bad call at the end of a game. We are just biased to believe it means more because we are closer to knowing the games final result. Ask any fan and they'll tell you the refs hate their team more than all the rest. End of the day, if you allow a bad call by the ref to decide the game, you didn't do enough to secure the victory in the first place. I'm sure that's what (good) coaches are telling their locker rooms as well.
