Let's stop attacking each other and get back on topic.

I want to say Ruggs is done. He should be. He was drinking and driving and killed someone.

Then I remember that Dante Stallworth did the same thing in 2009 (?) and he played another several seasons in the NFL after he served a very minimal sentence. I think the victim's family settled or forgave him... can't remember specific details... but that made his sentence lighter. I wonder what will happen here.

These guys have a designated driver service that they can use. Senseless tragedy...

Stallworth didn't kill the guy because he was drunk, he killed him because it was pitch black and the guy was walking in the middle of road. He would've ran him over even if he was sober, which is why he got a minimal sentence.

Ruggs is toast.

No one is attacking anyone as far as I’m concerned; rather, people are rightly calling out a comment blaming the incident in part on the NFL for putting a franchise in Las Vegas, which is demonstrably absurd.

As for Stallworth, his sentence was greatly reduced because the pedestrian he hit and killed was jaywalking iirc. This bad fact likely helped Stallworth’s legal team settle the matter and put it behind him, allowing him to continue to play football. It’s way too early to tell what defense might be mounted by Ruggs’ legal team here, but he’s in trouble no matter how you slice it.

Yeah, if the rumors are true that he broke his hip, then it could be time missed because of that and likely a full season suspension (Donte Stallworth precedent).

He'll probably take a plea deal and avoid significant prison time.

So, it's a wrap. Raiders will probably release him.
Here's the problem... DUI with death has a minimum sentence. Per the oracle of Google... "In Nevada, the charge for DUI causing bodily harm or death is a category B felony punishable by a minimum of 2 years in prison and maximum of 20 after conviction." If I understand things correctly, even if he pleads guilty that's at least 2 years in prison.

Terrible situation. I feel bad for him in a sense, but choices have consequences (for yourself and for others). IMO There should be zero tolerance for driving under the influence, and I have no problem throwing the book at people on things like this when there are numerous completely reasonable ways he could have avoided it.

And prayers for the family of the person who died. We don't yet have the full story and more details may come out that changes things, but it appears they were the true victim here.

I never understand these guys getting drunk and getting into accidents. Drive a fast car, sure, but do it sober. Go on the highway. Or rent a car at a racetrack. But this is just stupid. Senseless. Use your car service. What a waste. Ruggs is done.

Not directing my response to you, just your the latest.

I didn't blame the incident on the NFL. But suggested it may not have been a wise idea to put an NFL team in Vegas. If you do not recognize that as a discussion, then your slow to recognizing it as a factor.

Where else in the US are "professionally working women" all around on a place called the Vegas Strip combined with women, and men, traveling there specifically to have a good time and leave their inhibitions at the door?
People do travel to Vegas to party from big cities such as LA, NYC, NO, etc ..

People mention why not take an Uber. Sure, that is the logical and rational thing to do, but how does one impress the ladies in an Uber? You impress them by driving an expensive Corvette speeding down the Vegas Strip late in the evening.

Sure bad incidents have happened elsewhere, but Vegas has been open for 1.5 years ( were players even allowed out last year?) and perhaps the biggest NFL related drunken felony already occured in Vegas.

Yet, your blasting me for stating the obvious?

I'm done on the topic.

Stalworth had a BAC of .12 (over the legal limit of 0.8). He hit a man in early hours (driving 50 in a 40) who was in the middle of the street. Stalworth had tried flashing his lights to warn the man. He settled with the family and he reached a plea bargain with the DA.

While the DA may decide to offer a plea deal to ruggs, he's under no obligation to. Sentencing is 2-20 years I believe.

It's also important to note, not only do NFL athletes have the driver service (atleast I believe they still do), there are also great services like Uber, Lyft, and cabs. Not to mention the option of always not drinking.

The real shame is that now because of multiple poor decisions a family has lost a beloved family member.

Done showing your @ss in public, more like. Jesus.

Incredibly sad story, and not what I imagined waking up to on Trade Deadline Tuesday.

I hope Henry Ruggs gets professional help and support, and more than that, I hope the victims family get justice.

What a waste.

Yeah, you would think these guys are always with someone who can drive them. Just inexcusable all around.

He was playing well this season too.
