Is this an overpay for Chase?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Is this an overpay for Chase?

Postby RedBengal » Sun Oct 24, 2021 7:04 pm

Super flex league. The Chase owner says he wants two 1sts, a 2nd, Etienne and Courtland Sutton. The two firsts are a 22 first and a 23 first, both mid-to-late. The 2nd is a high 2023 second. Sutton is a starter for me and I'm not sure if this is worth the upgrade in points. If anything I need RB help, but Chase is a 21 year old beast and I'm a Bengals fan. Etienne is obviously a total wild card.

I absolutely hate trading future firsts. He originally wanted three firsts and Etienne. There is one first I'm specifically holding out on because it's trending towards being the 1.1 or 1.2 in 2023 and could be the Bijon Robinson pick.

I think its pretty fair, possibly a small overpay. I don't think Chase is going to get cheaper anytime soon.

Use the Team Advice forum, in future. Chase is the WR1 In Dynasty after this week, IMO. That's a steep price for a WR, though, in that format. I'd hold.

It is a bit of an overpay imo. But chase is the dynasty wr1 in most people books at this point and that'll take an overpay to get

Don't buy him after this week would be my advice. Wait to at least get a down week to maybe reduce that price a tad. Coordinators are going to start rolling extra coverage his way and maybe it slows him for a few weeks... (maybe)

All that said, I might be willing to pay that price tag but it is enormous. Looks like you can afford to make this move if you want but it really takes a chunk out of your assets. The excitement of owning him might be worth it though just for the enjoyment side of things.

Here's my big question for you to ponder though... could you get CeeDee or Jefferson at a cheaper price than the one for Chase? I think all 3 of those guys are really close.

I've considered this, but the Jefferson owner is as hard to deal with as the Chase owner. They're the worst two guys in the league to trade with. The Lamb owner is a strong contender, so I'm not sure why he'd move him. I also just like Chase more. He's got a better quarterback than Jefferson does.

If those firsts were projected earlier, yes it would be an overpay. But if they are projected and being valued as mid to late first, no it's not an overpay, seems about right in a 12+ teamer. It's an underpay in a league with less than 10 teams.

Chase is in legitimate contention for being the 1.01 in non-SF leagues, and should be a first rounder in SF leagues. A 22 1st, 23 1st, Sutton (who is certainly a downgrade from chase), an injured RB on a crappy team, and a second seems like a great price to pay in SF.

Assuming it's for the team in your signature, I like the deal for you. But you need to get some more RB depth too.

Fair price where we currently are and as others have mentioned, Chase will not be cheaper anytime soon. The fact that both 1sts should be late make the price better and Etienne is a complete unknown.

So your looking to trade for a wr who has blown up, he's 21, has a young stud qb with him, a high end wr in Higgins opposite of him and he's just starting to scratch the surface of his talents. Seems pretty cheap to me.
