James Conor vs Henry Ruggs
James Conor vs Henry Ruggs
For team #2 in my signature, would you trade James Conor for Henry Ruggs. I am fairly weak at WR but I’m not sure if I can afford to give up a RB. Thoughts? I’m looking for upside at WR. I made the playoffs last year but I don’t think I’m a contender this year.

THis should be posted in "Team Advice" in future, but I'd take Ruggs quite easily.

Re: James Conor vs Henry Ruggs
Ruggs for me and I think it’s about 50% chance he just never really is a fantasy game changer. Matters more in actual football as a field stretcher than in fantasy football.
Re: James Conor vs Henry Ruggs
Your team 2 looks fairly awful with or without Conner. Nobody hates Ruggs more than I do, but I'd take him over Conner in your situation for his long term upside.
Re: James Conor vs Henry Ruggs
And Derek Carr throws such a great deep ball, oops no he doesn't. I am not excited about either player, but I guess I would throw my dart at the young, fast WR and say Ruggs
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

I feel similarly, although maybe not as strongly towards Ruggs. I hate to write the guy off already, but I'd rather take Conner's production on a contender.StripesOfKC wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 12:46 pm Conner will be usable this year

Do you want to squeeze that last bit of production from Conner or shoot for high future potential/low odds with Ruggs?Mcknic wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 6:30 am For team #2 in my signature, would you trade James Conor for Henry Ruggs. Id take Ruggs with your roster and hope he figures it out.

Actually, Carr's deep ball was very good last year.

Ruggs is 4th all time in TD's for WR's at Bama, and he came out as a junior. I'll admit he got off to a slow start last year, but writing him off at 22 seems a bit much. He only started playing football as a junior in high school. Thing is, with his team, Conner doesn't do anything. Ruggs will be around, a lot longer than Conner will.

Re: James Conor vs Henry Ruggs
I would sell Conner .. you never have him in the playoffs/end of season. I'd probably go ahead and flip him for Ruggs, but I'd also probably look to package Ruggs after a good game for something else ..

Re: James Conor vs Henry Ruggs
This is not close by any measure. Ruggs is coming off a subpar rookie campaign but has come into camp gaining 13 lbs of muscle and looks to be dedicating himself to the game.
I get everyone wants Justin Jefferson stats in year one but in reality it takes a lot of WR's 2-3 years to develop. This kid has serious breakout potential. His snap count will increase by hundreds this season and approach between 700 and 750 if he stays healthy.
Conner is a good player that has not been the picture of health never starting more than 12 games in a season. He is now getting closer to the end than the beginning.
One player has WR1 potential on his team this season, the other is a back up RB on his new team.

Re: James Conor vs Henry Ruggs
If you are looking long term, I think this is Ruggs though for the hope. Short term, it's Conner.
I think Conner will be sneaky good this year and a solid week to week option. Obviously his age and shelf life/health is a concern long term but Ruggs showed very little last year. If Conner does play well, I think he will be worth more in a lineup and I would rather have him for depth at a tough and expensive position this year. I think there is still hope for Ruggs, but he could very easily not pan out based on last year. Not every rookie wr hit right away, but Ruggs played a little and did very little with that play time.

Re: James Conor vs Henry Ruggs
Ruggs for me. Even if he doesn’t pan out you didn’t give much for him.
Re: James Conor vs Henry Ruggs
I don’t like either one, but give me Ruggs for his potential. Conner can’t stay healthy and isn’t even the main RB.
