Trade Tee Higgins and 2022 1st and 2nd for Devante Adams?

Postby WOATjohn » Fri Aug 06, 2021 1:08 am

Team 2

Would this trade put me in a legit power team? Is it worth trading so much youth? I would still have tons of youth to continue to grow as well.

I think it's too much... Solely because of the uncertainty behind Aaron Rodgers and he'll most likely be gone next year. Adams future is unknown after that. Of course he will always be a dominant WR, but you're no longer looking at the #1 WR overall and 2 years from now this trade looks bad even if you win the title this year. To me anyway.

For Higgins, 1st and a 2nd I'd want more than one elite season guaranteed. If anything it's Higgins +1st for Davante+2nd and lean heavily into the A.Rod issue.

I still think Higgins outperforms Chase this year and remains very close in production there after. He has an alpha profile. I picture something similar to Kenny Golladay/Marvin Jones 1A/1B type production for them the one good year in Detroit when they were together.

I disagree a bit with halfbaked. I think davante's elite season, and subsequent wr2+ season(s) are almost worth the asking price. I love Higgins, but one thing I'm realizing in this whole dynasty game, is that a lot of players are shiny new cars but when you really put the pedal to the metal which ones are getting up to 60 in under 5sec? Not many. Analogy I'm making is a lot of young wrs have potential and flash, but who the hell is really putting up a season like adams has had? If you think Adams puts you over the top I'd pay Higgins and a first, and think a deal could ultimately be had for Higgins, 1st, 2nd for Adams and a third (or 23 second possibly?)

With your team, I make that trade with an instant SMASH yes. You are a contender and adding a T5WR will only boost your chances. The name of the game is winning championships, and adding Adams to your roster has to make you a favorite.

Looking at the assets you're surrendering, I don't see any Top Shelf value there. Unless something surprising happens, it looks like your 22 1st will be 1.10 or later. Your 23 2nd is not a big factor in this trade. Also, I don't think Higgins will ever come close to being a fantasy WR1. Giving up a guy who's going to spend his career bouncing between WR2-WR3 is a small price to pay to get a chance to win a championship now. Whether Aaron leaves or not, Adams will be a very talented WR. My assumption is that if GB lets Aaron go next offseason, they will not want to pay $20M a WR entering his age30 season while they embark on a mini-rebuild, and they will trade or release him (and Jones for that matter.) - no doubt Adams chooses a team with a great arm at QB.

Whatever happens with Adams in the future, this is a deal I'd make today.

Not a trade you should make imo. You really aren't close to competing... I wouldn't think. Surely you missed the playoffs last yr?

Adams is a guy I've been advocating selling all offseason. This is a good return for him in my opinion. I like him still, I think he makes you better this yr, but you still don't have the pieces with those requirements. Couple that with giving your 1st and 2nd next yr....pretty easy pass.

IF you wanted Adams...I may see if that owner was interested in some sort of cmc trade in which you came out nicely. It would speed up your build and you'd still have Adams to sell off (hopefully before it's too late).

This trade certainly helps your starting lineup week to week. This could end up being pricey depending on what Higgins does and the 1st turns into. As of now, this is a solid price for Adams and helps your lineup. I dont know if you are an out and out contender because Swift is still an unknown overall, but Adams helps any lineup score more.

The price seems nice to get Adams. However I don’t think, without knowing the makeup of the other 11 teams, this makes you an outright “contender.” I would hold.

Don't overthink it. If this is offered to you, accept it.
As an owner of Adams in several leagues, I would not give him up for a shiny penny and a future 1st.

To anyone that wants to answer.. Would you still side with Adams if Jordan Love is throwing the ball next year?

I think Green Bay is doing their a poor man's Tennessee Titans impression with AJ Dillon when Rodgers leaves. Could get ugly.

If GB lets Aaron walk next year, they won't keep a $20M WR. Adams will probably be allowed to choose his landing spot - maybe Oakland/Chargers/Houston. Adams' stats would be just fine in any of those places.

An elite wr like Adams is qb-proof. Plus, contract year. He may be able to choose his qb for 2022.
