Give me Tyler Conklin at their prices.
I suspect they'll give you similar production.. and Conklin is actually the far superior athlete with the hoops background.

I'm actually moving on from him, traded my only share. All I hear out of camp is bad stuff.
Nice.
So this Conklin hype...wickerkat1212 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 2:36 pmI'm actually moving on from him, traded my only share. All I hear out of camp is bad stuff.
Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said TE Irv Smith would not have a bigger role in the team's offense this season.
Zimmer's comments should turn the head of anyone targeting Smith, 23, as a later-round fantasy breakout in 2021. "Honestly, I don’t think it’s any bigger role for him whatsoever," Zimmer said of Smith. "I think it’s a bigger role for Tyler Conklin. He’s kind of emerged as a guy that’s moving upward and with those two guys, we have a lot of weapons there. Irv always has been able to do what he’s been able to do whether Kyle was here or not. We’re excited about these two young tight ends that we have." Sports Illustrated's Will Ragatz said Conklin will be a regular part of the team's passing attack in 2021, mostly in two tight end sets. Ragatz, while high on Smith's athleticism and playmaking ability, said he would "pump the brakes a bit on the expectations that he'll blow up and have a 2016 Rudolph-esque season with 700 or 800 receiving yards." The presence of Conklin in Minnesota's offense, Ragatz said, could suppress Smith's 2021 numbers, even with Kyle Rudolph departed to New York. In games Rudolph missed at the end of 2020, Conklin drew three more targets than Smith, had as many catches, and 15 fewer yards. Conklin, a 2018 fifth-round pick out of Central Michigan, played one fewer snap than Smith during Rudolph's absence. Ragatz said Conklin has displayed good report with Kirk Cousins in offseason practices. Conklin should be drafted in tight end premium formats, though he and Smith could cannibalize each other's target share.
In that format absolutely imho.CGW wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 11:19 amSo this Conklin hype...wickerkat1212 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 2:36 pmI'm actually moving on from him, traded my only share. All I hear out of camp is bad stuff.

Currently in a 2.00ppr TE premium league startup (start 14 offensive players) where we start two TEs. Who would take Conklin as a late round flier over guys like Hamler, Cephus, Alie-Cox?
Even if he hits, he has JJ, Thielen, Irv and the running game to compete with for touches. I'd easily put MAC over Conklin, and likely Cephus as well, just for the more likely chance to immediately hit and flip.
Anyone fading a 1st round WR with Jefferson's profile for playing behind a veteran 7th round WR in training camp is high off their rocker.FiremanEd wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 4:45 am The shade thrown on Irv has me more likely to invest in him if people are going to start fading.
I recall Justin Jefferson running behind Bisi Johnson this time last year and people getting nervous.
Even if Irv isn’t elite, I like his chances for a quality year, and he will still be 23. Lots of runway.
OJ Howard 2.0. All the athleticism and hype and none of the production.tresskid84 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 12:29 pm I don't know why we are even talking about irv in this thread. Hes been in the top 10 of adp all off-season and went in the top ten of tight ends in both startups i did this offseason, haha.
The thing is... Irv isn't even that, he's a sub par NFL athlete... I'd much rather have OJ Howard in the hope that he follows the Greg Olsen career arch.YouMightDieTryin wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 1:07 pmOJ Howard 2.0. Not to mention the thread title, if he’s top ten ADP he shouldn’t be in this thread? I do like him as a player, less so a fantasy player, so far. This year is a big one for him imo.Sriracha wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 1:49 pmThe thing is... Irv isn't even that, he's a sub par NFL athlete...
