Hopkins Value/Trade

Postby robinoso » Fri Apr 02, 2021 3:23 pm

I’ll be frank, I’ve never been great at “valuing” aging true studs.

I’ve been offered Hopkins for my Terry/Dionte/2.03 and my 22 1st

When I value players as a 1st, I see Terry as one and Dionte as near if not say 1.10. With 2.03 and 221st, it feels almost like 4 1sts for Hopkins.

That being said, I’m intrigued and here’s why. I have watched Dionte and his soup brain get swirled all year and QB future questions, 2.03 while good value still a dart, 22 1st could be late if I contend and it’s a year away. That leaves Terry. While I love Terry he doesn’t do what Hopkins can do yet.

I’m spinning in circles. Love to hear thoughts. I’m leaning towards removing pick/picks.

Even at an advanced age, Hopkins is still elite and really not that old. McLaurin is the other best piece in the deal and as currently constructed, I think this is an overpay for Hopkins. McLaurin is finally going to have a QB in the sort term that can and likes to throw. I think McLaurin + the 2nd is fair or Johnson + the 2nd + the 1st would be where I would try to land. Holding McLaurin and Hopkins would be big but I'm guessing that will not be an option. Some are super high on Johnson though.

Thanks.

He’s not high on DJ. He subbed MT for Terry and I said it’s the same feeling, too much. I initially countered with DJ, 2.03, 2.09 and my 22 1st and he declined.

I would hold and walk away if McLaurin or Thomas are needing to be involved with all the other picks/assets on top.

That's an overpay in my book. But I'm high on Diontae. I've watched his every game and think he's a special route runner.

I am too, which is why I was trying to package him in offers for “upgrade”. He’s a target hog and reminds me of AB lite when he was 5-7 receptions a game.

I'm a big Hopkins fan but I say this is too much. I would trade my Hopkins for this package easily.

I’m not even a big Diontae fan, but I don’t have McLaurin that far off of Hopkins. Behind still, but not nearly enough to make this deal. I would hold very easily, I don’t even think I’d feel confident in being able to find middle ground.
