Bateman 6’ 190....
This WR class might not be as strong as previously thought

Measurements don't bother me or change anything for Bateman and his standing in this class. Still WR4 and 8th overall among non-QBs.StripesOfKC wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 1:13 pmTreylon Burks/David Bell/George Pickens(tore is ACL last week)/Garrett Wilson2022 SZN!!!
Seriously though that's such a bummer. He was the only guy I saw as close to a surefire prospect after Chase

What's wrong with 6'0, 190 for a WR?
I feel like people put too much stock into weight at that position. You frequently hear about WRs playing 10 lbs or more lighter than their listed weight. It's such a trivial number.

Does he need to be 20 lbs heavier though to succeed?

Re: Way too Early 2021 Draft Thread
Bateman didn’t look close to 6 2” 210 on film, not sure why people actually expected that for a weigh in.
I suspect his ADP drops now, which is a shame as I wasn’t really interested in him.
This wide receiver class really is small, Terry had a disappointing weigh in and Pro Day as well - might be time to give Nico Collins bit more of a look.

Body Clone Stefon Diggs and 5'10" 185 lb Tyreek Hill agree!Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 1:32 pmWhat's wrong with 6'0, 190 for a WR?

No, but statistically it does actually help his chances.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 1:34 pmDoes he need to be 20 lbs heavier though to succeed?

Forgot about Burks--definitely belongs there--not sure Pickens' ACL changes that much though (though this is not the place to discuss it)bjd5211 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 1:23 pmMeasurements don't bother me or change anything for Bateman and his standing in this class. I feel like the more you read about players not playing at their listed weight, the less meaningful predictive studies based on pro day or combine weight are.cantguardjake wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 1:42 pmNo, but statistically it does actually help his chances.
Example, if he actually bulked up to 210 for his pro day, then lost the weight, like many do, then it means what?

Re: Way too Early 2021 Draft Thread
Back in the Dark Ages of the NFL prior to no contact after 5 yards, no spearing, or Horse collars, the size weight argument may have meant something.
Today it is a real tired argument. Even back in those days Marvin Harrison who was 5lb's lighter finished with 1102 receptions.
I love the big guys like Calvin and DK today as much as anyone but 6'0 190 is not in anyway a liability.
Bateman, does have some issues. He plays a bit slower than his 40 time and I don't like the way he gets out of his breaks much so IMO he isn't a lock future stud by any stretch but it won't be a size issue.
