I could see some owners wanting a late 1st, but I would be hesitant to give more than 2.03 - 2.05 range as a buyer. Especially before a landing spot is known.

I’d say an early 2nd would be ambitious in a 10-12 team league. I’d want something in the pick 10-14 range for him but don’t imagine most would pay that.

This is where I'm at. Try floating him out there once you know his new team. That's probably the point when you'll be able to get a better price for him. Assuming he goes to a decent spot.

2.02 would be top end for Curtis right now. He could go to a crowded group or a team that doesn't get how to make best use of what he offers. Or he could land at the perfect spot (less likely I think).

Best-case scenario in my view is top 4 of 2nd round. More likely is middle 4 of 2nd round

Age 24 seasons:

Player X - 6’ 210 lbs . - 4.35 40 - taken 76th overall
14 games - 58 touches/919 yards/7 TDs

Player Y - 6’1” 215 lbs - 4.54 40 - taken 62nd overall
16 games - 97 touches/831 yards/9 TDs

Curtis Samuel - 5’11 196 lbs - 4.31 40 - taken 40th overall
15 games - 118 touches/1051 yards/5 TDs

Player X was a second round startup pick after their age 24 season. Player Y was a fourth round startup pick after theirs.

1.07 or 1.08 or so is fair for Samuel, and it can be argued he’s worth more. Second round is a pretty criminal undervaluation.

Give me player X who's bigger, nearly as fast, and garnered nearly as much yardage as Samuel (with a couple more TD's in one less game) with just under half the number of touches.

I appreciate the point you're trying to make. But once a player has been in the league for a few seasons draft capital means nothing. Their NFL resume' becomes the standard by which they're judged. I don't have anything against Samuel, but I'd decline the offer of your Samuel for my 1.07/1.08. And I don't think you could argue he's worth more. I mean, you could. But I don't think you'd find many people who agree with you.

I'm not posting to try and start an argument with you either. I was just genuinely surprised to find someone who values Samuel that highly. But maybe his new team makes him a featured part of the offense and his numbers continue to improve. If that's the case, I'll definitely be one of those people who looks stupid for underestimating him.

How many 24 year old WRs with second round draft capital coming off a 1000 yard, WR2 season aren’t worth, at least, 1.07 or 1.08? Most players that do that are valued pretty highly, so I don’t really see what makes Samuel different.

It’s not that I’m in love with him or anything, but he compares pretty similar from a age/production/draft capital/size perspective to guys like Lockett, Woods, McLaurin, Emmanuel Sanders, and Diontae, and it’s not like he was ever in some amazing situation.

I personally would take the y as of right now because i am a person who likes wrs getting targets/touches. Offensive scheme has so much to do with that. If samuel were staying i would take him because he had the most but he is on the move and we dont know if he will get small touches like the x example you provided.

I wouldn’t pay the 1.07 or 1.08 for any of those guys you mentioned except McLaurin. Samuel is an early/mid 2nd for me.

Agreed on this valuation. It would probably take an early 2nd to get a deal done though.

Just for context, in-season last year I decided to make an offer for Diontae because (aside from the drops) he's a young WR who I like moving forward. I offered my 2nd rounder in 2021 for him, and the other owner was interested, but he wanted a little something on top. He'd lost Saquon Barkley, so I proposed sending him Latavius Murray (who I didn't care about or really want on my roster anyway) and the trade was finalized.

The pick ended up being 2.06, and I did pay a bit more than that. But Murray doesn't carry much value unless you're cuffing Kamara, and I wasn't. So that's where my league mate valued a WR in the Curtis Samuel zone. And Diontae's value isn't up much from when I grabbed him.
