It's not a death sentence especially at his size. Lateral movement, agility, vision, contact balance are all more important than straight line speed for a rb and Harris has all those in spades. CEH,James Robinson,Lev Bell,Ingram,Blount,Foster all ran 4.6 or higher and Gore, Shaun Alexander and Jamal Lewis all ran 4.59 at the combine.

I think a RB refusing to run a 40 is like a QB not wanting to throw , it was tank his draft stock worse than running a 4.6 . I don't think any NFL teams are expecting him to run super fast.
For what it’s worth I meant over 4.6- that was a typo.

Maybe that’s the case that skipping would drop him farther, but some of the guys you mentioned (Robinson, Foster, Blount) went undrafted.

Maybe if he’s consistently running 4.60-4.62 it’s no big deal and he should just run. If he’s closer to 4.7 than to 4.6 I still say he should probably skip.
4.7 would be a disaster, I don't think he is a burner by any means but I also don't think he is 4.7 slow. I'm looking forward to seeing how fast some of these guys are . I think Hubbard will run in the 4.3's , Etienne 4.4, Williams 4.5,Harris high 4.5 or low 4.6. Gainwell and Carter are the 2 guys im most curious about because they lack size of prototype workhorse rb's .
Hubbard sub 4.4? I dunno that I see that.

Since we are talking about guys that shouldn’t run, I don’t think ettienne helps himself unless he can have a very low, or sub 4.4.

Guys like Williams, Harris, Carter, need to try to get close to 4.5 flat

Anything under 4.6 for RB's is perfectly fine. I don't need my RB's to break off 90 yard runs if they can consistently pick up 4-8 on every carry, and your 40 yard dash is not the measurable that determines whether or not they can accomplish that
This is demonstrably untrue. The 40 when adjusted for weight, is one of the few productive metrics we have for rushing success.

So you started Anthonthy MacFarland and Darrynton Evans all season then? It is a piece of the equation, but the end all IMO
That’s a bad faith argument. At absolutely no point did I even approach suggesting that it is the “end all.” I agree with you that it is “a piece of the equation” which is a dramatically different stance than “an incredibly overrated measurement.”

I’ve come to expect better than this from you, Murph.

Fair enough, demonstrably untrue came across as a tad heavy handed to me

Hubbard is really fast, he was a track star before football. He is thinly built and a bit stiff but in a straight line he is very fast.

Hmm. Nice.

His personal best 100meter listed are 10.69, that’s circa 2016. Could’ve gotten slower or faster since. There’s no super reliable way to extrapolate a 40 time, but that does indeed seem right around a 4.4

I’d say he would shoot up boards if he posted something in the 4.3s, warranted or not.

I've seen a lot of varying rankings for Chuba Hubbard. If he falls all the way to the bottom of round 2, or even early round 3 as I've see in some places, I'd be all over it. He had a bad 2020 but I think that's a knee jerk reaction. Though I've also seen him go in the early 2nd.

Jaylen Waddle is who people wanted Ruggs to be.

All I'm saying is that Waddle looks a lot more like Tyreek than Ruggs ever did.
