TRADE: Lamb/Hock vs. Kittle OBJ

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

TRADE: Lamb/Hock vs. Kittle OBJ

Postby Prison_Mike » Thu Jan 28, 2021 9:16 am

Team 2 in Signature: (12tm | PPR | 1QB) - No TE Premium

Thoughts on this offer:

I Give: Lamb + Hockenson
I Get: Kittle + OBJ

Trade partner is looking to rebuild and get out from OBJ. As much as I like CeeDee, he's my WR4 and I think Kittle makes my team better with a weekly TE advantage

*This would be somewhat of a blind offer* - Would either side need something added?
Team 1:
12-team | PPR | SuperFlex | 0.5-TEP
Start: 1QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/3FLX/1SF
QB: Herbert, Kyler, Baker, Jimmy G, Mariota, DTR
RB: Taylor, Saquon, Javonte, Conner, C.Evans, TDP
WR: Chase, Aiyuk, Olave, Diggs, Diontae, Hollywood, MT, Shaheed
TE: Engram, Woods, Kraft
'24 picks: 1.08, 3.05

Team 2:
12-Team | PPR | SuperFlex | 0.5-TEP
Start: QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/3FLX/1SF
QB: Mahomes, Allen, Russ
RB: Breece, JT, Swift, Javonte, Mostert, Zamir
WR: Chase, Aiyuk, Nico, Kupp, Hollywood, Kirk, MT
TE: Pitts, Njoku, Woods
'24 picks: 4.01

Team 3:
12-Team | PPR | SuperFlex | 0.5-TEP
Start: QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/3FLX/1SF
QB: Hurts, Dak, Stafford, Z.Wilson, DTR
RB: Saquon, Swift, Achane, Kamara, Ford
WR: Jefferson, AJB, ARSB, Nico, Diontae, OBJ
TE: Goedert, Njoku, Fant, Woods
'24 picks: 4.08, 4.12, 5.12

I'd hold. OBJ does nothing for me in this deal. Lamb is a stud, Hockenson is a top 5 TE. I'd hold what you have.
Team 1: 12 team, PPR
1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1Flex

Mahomes, Lawrence
Najee, Swift, Javonte, Jamaal W, Murray
DK, DJM, Juju, Jameson, Gallup, Van
Pitts, Friermuth
1.01, 1.04, 1.11, 1.12, 3.10, 2 firsts next year

Team 2: 12 Team, SF TEP (1.5 PPR)

Mahomes, Burrow, Cousins, Rudolph
CEH, Swift, Gibson, Jacobs, Mattison, Scott, McFarland
DK, AJB, Ridley, McLaurin, Kupp, Landry, Mims, Hamler, Miller, Johnson, Robinson
Andrews, H. Henry, Sternberger, Alie-Cox, Herndon

Same as Team 2
Watson, Burrow, Lance, Z. Wilson
Pollard, Mattison
Chase, D. Smith, Boyd, Hardman, E. Moore, Cephus, A. Rodgers, Harry, Boykin, A. Tate, Miller
Hockenson, Thomas, Albert O, Njoku
3 additional firsts

Same as Team 2

I would not move Lamb after his first year. I think his value explodes this year. Kittle is the best piece, but I think this trade could look pretty ugly after this season. I have zero hope for Beckham though week to week.

I wouldn't give Lamb to get Kittle, while also giving Hockenson. I'd love to see Hockenson make a jump into the elite tier, and while Kittle gives a positional advantage at TE that most folks couldn't imagine getting for their WR4, most WR4s aren't Lamb. I think he will blow up with a healthy offense next year.

I could also replace Hock with Engram in this deal.
But it sounds like the consensus is not to give up Lamb

Hock does worry me a bit not knowing who his QB will be (but I suppose that's the case for Kittle too lol)

I think Kittle is a huge piece to be able to add, I just wouldn't move Lamb to get him.

Lamb and Hock for me pretty easily. The injuries are starting to pile up for Kittle and I have some concerns for him. Lamb I think is ready to become a top 5 WR. I wouldn't be surprised if midseason we see Lamb > Kittle and Hock > OBJ

I'd only consider this trade if I thought it would be the difference between championship next season or not. I think Lamb is going to be long-term WR1 for fantasy.

I'm not as big on Hock as the others. He'll not only be without Stafford next year, but he'll have a new coach and new OC. Who knows how the new offense will utilize TEs.

You're strong at WR, so I could see doing this. If I had your team, I'd feel better keeping Lamb and trading Moore or Boyd, if the other guy will go for it.

Honestly that was a big part of the thought process. This team is great on paper. But it has underperformed in the playoffs for 2 straight seasons. (Haven't made it past the 2nd round). My thought was: go all-in again in 2021 and if not, time to retool.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm worried about with Hock.

I'll never trade DJM lol and no one seems to properly value Tyler Boyd; I know this owner likes him, but unlikely to make the swap if he's giving up Kittle

My best option is probably to look for a TE upgrade elsewhere. I like Hock (a lot) but even as TE #5, he wasn't really a difference-maker. Coupled with the fact that he'll have a new QB AND new coaches, it might be difficult for him to enter the elite tier this season.

I'm in talks with the Waller owner and it should be much cheaper than this deal, so I'll continue to pursue that

I'd still pursue kittle, but I would look at other options. Obj does very little, I'd remove him from the deal, as all it does is add unnecessary value to the other side.

I'd much prefer Waller over Kittles. And getting Waller at a cheaper price only make it twice as good. Definitely pursue that if you think the Waller owner will deal.

BTW, I would not want to own OBJ, except to trade him to an owner who valued him highly.
