What it would take to move out of SF 1.02?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

What it would take to move out of SF 1.02?

Postby Perry_Grin13 » Sat Jan 23, 2021 9:19 pm

I am considering trading out of 1.02 (team in sig). I don't want to trade out of the top 5. This is only my second SF rookie draft.

Owner at 1.03 next year has 2 firsts and no seconds
Owner at 1.04 has 1.06, 1.11, 2.04, and 2.06
Owner at 1.05 has all standard picks

I was thinking of offering 1.02 for 1.04 + 1.06 + swapping second 2.12 for 2.06. Is this too much/not enough?

Does it feel like a massive tier drop from Fields to Lance/Wilson? I would still get either the RB1/WR1 at 4. Then could take Pitts/RB2/WR2/QB at 6 then a QB at 12 if one falls or BPA. I know its early, but I prefer to think about these things before draft hype gets rolling. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Landing spots will be key here but the 1.04 + 1.06 would be a pretty solid return again, pending landing spots. I'm not totally sold on Fields but the hype will grow and that could drive the return up too.

U’r essentially giving someone Fields, who must really want him, and reasonably so in a SF. I’d do it for no less than two more first this year

This thinking seems reasonable:

If you’re looking to move out of 1.02, it would take at least 1.04/1.06 for me. That said, I would absolutely wait until after the NFL draft to maximize the value on 1.02, let that pick appreciate through the offseason as rookie fever picks up.

I might consider it depending on RBs still there and landing spots. The question is, what do I do at 6 if I go pitts at 4? RB2, WR1/2 or QB3.

Take RB2: If Harris is still there slam dunk, otherwise it appears there is a tier drop after RB2-RB3
Take QB3: get QB you want before run starts (Wilson or Lance)
Take WR1/2: I think this is my least favorite only because I think it's my strongest position and at 12 I could still have Waddle, R. Moore, Bateman, T. Marshall, A. St brown available. Depends on QB run in middle.

Great qb prospect is hard to beat, Pitts QB probably

I’m for sure not giving up 1.4 and 1.6 in this draft for 1.2 but fields worries me. If you can get that done even without the move up, good deal for you IMO. If you can pull off the 2nd swap too, awesome.

I know people like updates to these and a lot has changed since I posted this. The person with 1.04 and 1.06 traded away 1.06 so that was no longer and option. Two more trades to change my team.

Trade A: Gave Winfield + Mostert + 1.12 + 3.12 for Darnold + 2.03 + 3.06.
I liked a buy low window here. As my QB4 in SF not much to give up for a QB who could be great based on pedigree.

Trade B: Gave Evans + 5.12 for 1.03 + 2022 1st + Van Jefferson
Taking the Belcheck route on this one trading a year early rather than a year late. I like Jefferson with Stafford and getting the 1.03 and a first next was worth it to me.

The landscape is now more interesting with having 1.02 and 1.03. I also know the owner at 1.05 is highly interested in Fields. Plan at this point is to draft Fields at 1.02, Pitts at 1.03. Then see who goes at 1.04. Possible swapping Fields for 1.04 + another 1st + player. Obviously this is going to be a draft day trade mainly if the person with 1.01 gets cute and doesn't take Lawrence. Thanks for the advice everyone.
