Penny

Postby Doodootime » Fri Jan 01, 2021 10:04 am

Do you think Penny is worth a pickup? I’m considering throwing an early 2021 2nd at him but I’m hoping he’s more than just a speculative add and actually has some decent 2021 upside. Or is there another undervalued RB I can possibly snag with an early 2nd?

I would pay a late 2nd, but an early seems to pricey.

I originally drafted penny in the early second and was super high on him. I used him as a throw in before the season. No way I would pay an early second at this point. If you want to gamble maybe an early third is worth the risk.

Well Penny was an early 1st in most leagues not that that has any bearing on his current value....it really all depends on what SEA does with Carson. With the injuries their backfield has had over the years, I think they will keep Carson on a short term deal. I think Penny will be given a chance to supplant Carson. Will he do it?? If he does he is worth an early 2nd.

I'd sell for a 2nd so fast at this point

I would not sell for anything less than a 2nd and I don't blame anyone if they wouldn't pay it.

He has a career 6 ypc in the NFL and the draft capital to match. He also was drafted by a team who does not fit his running strengths and isn't guaranteed

At the end of the day, he is a talented dude who will be fighting a 1st stringer for a job. A lot like a 2nd round rookie draft pick but at least I know he can do it at the NFL level.

I like Penny as much as the next guy but he's got 5.2 YPC on 155 carries in 3 years. Still a good average but a very small sample size and he was rarely the lead back. Injuries are an issue and he's already blown 3 years of his rookie deal. Sure he's probably a hold over a 3rd but I'm not too confident about it

I fat fingered 5, but that's still a nice ypc and he has always passed the eyeball test to me. Injuries are a problem for every running back. I don't know if he ever realizes his potential in Seattle. They prefer guys who run to contact rather than from. It was truly a bizarre pick by them.

not really. penny has been good on limited touches with carson starting. and if they move on from carson, they'll get another bruiser in no doubt. i don't think situation will change much, and he can be a solid RB2 being a 1B on that offense.

I can't imagine anyone paying any second for Penny at this point. I would ship him off for a third round pick. An early second is a massive overpay IMO.

Especially when the Zeke post had people saying they would sell Zeke for a early second/late first

Your just guessing, same as me. IMO if they let Carson go, then Penny will be expected to carry the load. Of course they will probably add someone like Hyde again, but if they let Carson walk...it's Penny's time to shine. Pun intended 😉

If you like him, can you get him as a throw-in as part of a larger deal? Mask the fact that he's a target for you... Trade one of your guys for another in the same tier at TE or WR... then get Penny on top. I personally wouldn't give a 2nd for him. I think Snell on your team has more upside in 2021 than Penny.

This is a good idea. Trying to include players as throw ins on bigger trades is a great tactic in dynasty. In a CMC trade this year I got Kupp as a throw in, he is still a good WR but with the pieces thrown around he was almost free to me.
