I play mostly TE premium, but there's no way I'm taking a mid 2nd for Tonyan. I wouldn't even entertain it. He's a very athletic player breaking out right in front of our eyes in year 3, just like he's supposed to. We all acknowledge it takes tight ends longer to develop but we never apply it in practice. No one is paying the price his current production warrants, so he is a firm HOLD. Trading him now is leaving value on the table.Jrblaha wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 2:25 pmSo what’s his value, you think? Firsker has a 100 yard game this season, Tonyan doesn't. Anyway they're both basically solid pass catching backup TEs. Tonyan had a real nice 98 yard 3 TD game, the rest is ho hum standard TE stuff. He just seems to be on the brink, so to speak, because the position is such a black hole.
Since week 2 he is the #3 overall TE in PPR leagues.
Since week 6 leaving out his double digit games weeks 2,3,4 he is still the #5 TE overall. He looks legit as a pretty consistent TE. He plays hard and with an attitude. Rodgers likes him which is saying a lot given his history with TE's.
TE's actually matter in LaFleur's offensive system so he is a legit target.

I've held him and will continue to do that but also start him and forget it. I'd sell him for a 1st due to uncertainty of next year but if the guy actually turns out to be a perennial top 5 TE it won't be worth it. See Waller.

Re: Robert Tonyan TE Green Bay
Right? Especially in a draft year like this. I could see if it was last years draft, maybe. Most could tell the talent was super deep and there would be some really good players going late 2nd. 2021 is a much weaker draft though. I'm not even sure a late 1st would be worth it.burntfire wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 7:07 pmThis.skinfanjon wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 2:41 pmI play mostly TE premium, but there's no way I'm taking a mid 2nd for Tonyan. Re: Robert Tonyan TE Green Bay
I underestimated him. He's a decent TE, probably just above average.
BUT Rodgers loves him and the defenses have to account for Davante and A Jones.
It's a fantastic situation and he is going to print touchdowns for as long as it lasts. Wish I had him unfortunately no shares.

Not to hijack the thread (or veer too far from pure dynasty discussion), but how confident are we in Tonyan entering this year's playoffs? H Henry still an easy start over Tonyan, or have we gotten to the point where it's match-up dependent between these two for the next 3 weeks?

Tonyan is the start in a similar matchup at this point. If Henry has a great matchup I'd start him over Tonyan though.Dibbles wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 10:33 pm Not to hijack the thread (or veer too far from pure dynasty discussion), but how confident are we in Tonyan entering this year's playoffs? On the season, he now has:
52 Targets
46 Receptions
533 yards
9 TDs
The dude has only had an incompletion on 6....6!!!!!... targets all season long. Actually, that should be his nickname.

Traded him in a package with Tim Patrick for Hooper
Re: Robert Tonyan TE Green Bay
Got offered mike gesicki and a 2023 2nd for Tonyan and Rams D. I’m not in the playoffs, and it’s not ppr, or superflex, but we do have to start 1 te. What’s the thoughts here? I also have dolphins D.

Push for the pick to be sooner than 2023, but I'd probably take that

2023 is his first 2nd rounder available unfortunately.Prison_Mike wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 1:06 pmPush for the pick to be sooner than 2023, but I'd probably take that

Re: Robert Tonyan TE Green Bay
I think I’d hold. Gesicki is absolutely beasting, and he and Tua might for a long and meaningful on field relationship. Tonyan doesn’t look like a slouch either but there will be various big changes in the GB offense over the next handful of seasonsPrison_Mike wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 1:06 pmPush for the pick to be sooner than 2023, but I'd probably take that
