Joe Burrow or Trevor Lawrence
I've had a little interest in Burrow with the injury he has had. I'm not worried about his knee long term but rather will Cincy address the Oline/protection since we all saw this coming?
I thought it might be interesting to have a poll for Burrow or Trever IF he ends up being a NYJ?(or a Jag. But I think he will be a Jet)
Let's talk about who you would rather have. Very good QB(imo) in Burrow with the Bengals, or "generational talent" with the Jets.

Re: Joe Burrow or Trevor Lawrence
I love Burrow, but I'm taking Trevor easily.
Re: Joe Burrow or Trevor Lawrence
Tough one. I'd lean Burrow. Don't trust either organisation though.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.
Re: Joe Burrow or Trevor Lawrence
Trevor easily. He is really really good and would lead the Jets out of the desert.
Might have a different answer if someone offered to trade Lawrence to me for my one of my many Herbert shares.

Re: Joe Burrow or Trevor Lawrence
Give me Burrow, I almost always side with proven results over potential hype - and not sure what more you need to see in a first year on an abysmal team, he is clearly legit. Not doubting Lawrence’s talent or potential, but I really like what I’ve seen thus far with Burrow.
Re: Joe Burrow or Trevor Lawrence
I think I'd lean Burrow as we've seen him do it but Trevor is the biggest prospect since Luck. That being said, the same questions about the Jets and how awful that organization is, also apply to the Bengals. They are trying to get Burrow killed.
Honestly, after Tua took some hits and he got benched this past weekend it looked like a smart move after Burrows injury.

Trevor Lawrence for me. Higher rated prospect, and he’s not coming back from injury. Yes, USUALLY players come back fine from ACLs, but it’s not without risk. Same reason I question people leaving Dak in their top few dynasty QBs. You can’t know how these big injuries will impact players’ futures.

I mean, I can't hardly think of a passing QB who didn't come back from an ACL injury. I am not so worried about the injury as the future of Cincy and whether they invest to protect him.Ruggenater wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 7:46 pm Trevor Lawrence for me. I think Burrow has shown enough to warrant being worth more than Trevor, especially as a Jet. That's just me. I've seen the Josh Rosen's being touted as the best in the class, not counting all the other guys that have busted, Leaf, RG3, Jamarcus Russel, etc. I would not be AT ALL surprised for Trevor to be better eventually, but his bust rate is not zero and that sways it for me.

Sorry to take us off topic but I gotta ask - does Zac Taylor come back next year?

Has winning or losing ever been a factor in the retention of Cincy head coaches?Space Cowboy wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 9:56 am Sorry to take us off topic but I gotta ask - does Zac Taylor come back next year?
Kidding aside, it's a good question. Burrow's volume is doing wonders for him. I've seen enough to believe if he has any reasonable amount of time to make a decision he will be good. Just wondering if Cincy provides him the protection...

I think it was Rap Sheet recently saying that he doesn't get any hints that Taylor won't be back next yearSpace Cowboy wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 9:56 am Sorry to take us off topic but I gotta ask - does Zac Taylor come back next year?

Culpepper sticks out. He returned from his injury, however he was never the same.

Carson Palmer is another. His was a particularly terrible ACL injury, if I remember right, but he was also never really the same.dark_knite03 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 12:31 pmSteveMaddensShoes wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 9:55 amI mean, I can't hardly think of a passing QB who didn't come back from an ACL injury. Yep, Carson Wentz was once a top 5 dynasty QB, with no change after his ACL injury...I mean it was only a leg injury, no doubt he would have returned to his MVP caliber play...SteveMaddensShoes wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 9:55 amI mean, I can't hardly think of a passing QB who didn't come back from an ACL injury. Regarding Trevor vs Burrow, I think for fantasy you'd have to go with Trevor due to his likely increased rushing stats.
Re: Joe Burrow or Trevor Lawrence
Wentz's best year from an efficiency and per game standpoint was actually the year AFTER his acl injury. He set career highs in YPA, completion percentage, yards per game, and QB rating.remedy29 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 1:20 pmYep, Carson Wentz was once a top 5 dynasty QB, with no change after his ACL injury...I mean it was only a leg injury, no doubt he would have returned to his MVP caliber play...SteveMaddensShoes wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 9:55 amI mean, I can't hardly think of a passing QB who didn't come back from an ACL injury. Palmer's story isn't that different. If you looked over his career stats you couldn't find the two years where he tore his ACL without knowing them ahead of time.
Palmer 2005: 67% completion, 3836 yds, 7.5ypa, 32td, 12 int
Palmer 2006: 62% completion, 4036 yds, 7.8ypa, 28td, 13 int
He tore his ACL in January of 2006 so he wasn't even 9 months from his ACL tear when the 2006 seasons started and he still put up a very similar season.
Palmer's career best season was 2015, which started 10 months after his 2nd ACL tear.
2015: 64% completion, 4671yds, 8.7ypa, 35td, 11 int
With guys like Palmer and now Wentz people tend to just extrapolate them never taking the next step on their injuries, but the reality is there was probably only a 30-40% chance of them taking that next step with or without the injury. Palmer wasn't a great QB when he got hurt. He looked like he MIGHT turn into one. Like Baker Mayfield and so many before him though, for all we know he was just never going to develop into that guy.
If someone like Baker had torn his ACL at the end of his rookie year or Goff had torn his ACL at the end of his big year everyone would be blaming their failure to blossom into a HOF QB on the injury, but the reality is simply that most guys who flash elite potential don't actually become elite players.
