Time to sell DK?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Time to sell DK?

Postby JoshuaGordon_9 » Sat Nov 07, 2020 2:29 am

Team 2 in signature. Currently 1-7 in 12th, 9th in total points for.

Been trying to sell Zeke for almost anything. He's killing me I know: sell, sell, sell, but this one's for DK.

I know the thought process is to hold guys who are 22 years old with the sky as the limit, but I have 0 hope of competing till at least 2023 at this rate. Can't keep going down this path.
Another owner has got some great pieces.

Main pieces:
QB: Kyler, Darnold
RB: Dam. Williams (yup, thats it)
WR: Jeudy, Lamb, Reagor, Ruggs, Claypool, B. Edwards, Hamler, Patrick
TE: Fant, Hock, Irv, Trautman
6 x 2021 1sts, 2,3,5
3 x 2022 1sts, 2, 3, 4, 5
The firsts in 2021 are roughly: 1 early (currently in 10th), 2 mid (Currently 6th, and 8th), 3 late (1st, 3rd, 4th)

Clearly he is better than I am at rebuilding. I have not put DK on the block or anything, I have had a few contenders reach out to me and see if he is available, but they really don't have anything to rebuild with. (All their picks are with this guy, very few young assets) Debating floating him out to this guy, what would you look for in return? Is it worth it?

Just FYI: For those that haven't played in a 0.25 PPC league, Top RBs are usually very expensive, and go before the top QB studs. (At least this is the trend in our league) Burrow was 1.04, Tua 1.06, Herbert 1.08. I'm saying this cuz if I don't get the 1.01 Chase, Etienne, and/or Harris could easily be taken over Lawrence.
Team 1: 12T PPR SF no premiums, 4pt TDs

WR(2-6) Lamb, Olave, Hollywood, Godwin, JaMo, Sutton, Diontae, Lazard, McKensie
RB(2-6) ETN, A. Jones, Dillon, Hunt, Moss, K. Miller, S. Tucker
TE(1-5) Hock, Brock Wright, Everett

Team 3: 12T PPR SF TE Prem

First of all don’t sell off, rebuilt is what you want! Unless DK gives you a massive overhaul few early first ++, you have to rebuilt around him. Search the forum for what people value him at.

I would think next years first will give you a staring QB or RB!

Zeke is a hold unless you get an early first ++ this year is tough and unfortunate but his value should go back up.

Other thoughts:
Trade Gaskins when he is back to a RB needy contender.
May be you can pickup Albert O To help with TE depth too.
Look for wr coming from injuries like B Edwards on the wire.

Sell everything you can get a good haul for. You need assets and capital. Don't sell anything for cheap, but you should have everything on the block.

It always comes down to return and what it does for your future. That being said, Metcalf is a fantastic piece to build around and will be approaching his prime years in 2023. I would hold outside of a massive overhaul that really changes your future outlook. It's a bad time to sell Zeke and again, outside of an overpay keep holding for the right deal. Once Prescott is back next year his price will rebound. Rebuilding requires a ton of patience as it can take multiple seasons and ton of trade rejections before the right ones come. Make all your pieces publicly available and see what comes and evaluate one by one.

Piling on.

As far as Zeke goes, if you aren't competing til 2023, wait until next season to sell Zeke (unless you can get a fair offer currently). Next year, with Dak back, I believe Zeke will be back to normal and you should be able to get a nice return then. No point in selling now for less value if you aren't competing for a few years out. wait for the right time to sell and be patient.

I think you guys are crazy. That is not a team that is 3 years off from competing. You have 2 great RBs and a stud WR. That is a core, the other pieces can be built around that easily with waiver adds, draft picks, and the gigantic list of guys that come out of nowhere and overperform each year. You're in the perfect spot where your big weakness is WR depth at a time in NFL history where WR depth has never been easier to get. Obviously you need another QB too.

I think anyone that looks at that team and thinks "not even worth trying until 2023" is just a perpetual rebuilder that is going to chase sexy young names and is never going to really try and compete.

Maybe Zeke goes back to being a stud next year if Dak comes back healthy and dallas improves their o line. But what if they don't? Sanders is a nice rb, but if you have just and rb and a wr, that rb is more valuable as a trade piece than he is sitting on your roster, not winning you championships, and getting older.

Without the wrs in place it's hard to not have depth at rb and make a legitimate run this year or next

OP has so many holes and can use upgrade at QB and TE too. With the class being great at QB, WR, TE, its exactly the positions of need.

If Metcalf can net 3 1st, I think its worth the gamble. Certain drafts aren't worth the gamble but this one coming up is perfect for Sflex & TE prem. If hit on a few picks then can compete next year or 2022.

Unless you get three 1sts + a player like Kirk you need to treat DK as what he is. A tremendous cornerstone to build your franchise around.
