Flurry of trade offers in a semi-rebuild

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Flurry of trade offers in a semi-rebuild

Postby Lesman » Sat Nov 07, 2020 1:18 pm

I'm out of playoff contention, and essentially put my entire roster on the block to see what offers I could get. I've gotten a flurry of offers, some ridiculous (Waller for a 4th), but some the are very interesting. Here are a few that I am considering, along with my thoughts on each. See sig for current roster.

1. My Fournette, Gaskin, Waller, for Miles Sanders, Schultz, 2020 4th.

Waller is the one that hurts here, but I do have Hurst to get by on. These are lot of pieces to give up for one essentially one player, but Sanders is a cornerstone to build around, and I am not sure that Fournette and Gaskin will ever be anything other than JAG's. Fournette could get interesting next year depending on where he signs, but his days as a potential cornerstone are over. Gaskin is simply a JAG in my book, and I expect MIA to upgrade their RB room for next year anyways. I think if I can bump the 4th up to a 2nd or 3rd this becomes more palatable.

2. Amari Cooper for Antonio Gibson + Mims.

This depletes my WRs for now, but I love Gibson, and Mims could be catching passes from TLaw for the next decade. Again, potential cornerstones to build on. This almost seems like a no brainer.

3. Fournette + Ebron for Pittman + Goedert.

I'm not sure about Pittman, only because his QB situation is so up on the air after this year, but I love the Goedert part.

4. The entire LAR backfield (Henderson, Akers, Brown) for CEH.

Again a lot of pieces for one player. CEH has a better shot of being a bell-cow next year, and LA will still be a 60/40 split at best between DH and Akers, but I think I still like the LA side better here.

What are you thoughts on all of these?

1. I'm not crazy about Sanders and I worry about his ability to hold up physically as a lead back. I like deal #3 with Fournette in it, but the value is 100% here in this deal if you want to lock up Sanders and build around him and CEH with deal #4.

2. Gibson has looked solid, but I'm not completely sold long term. Mims is still too unknown to tip the scale for me. I would hold Cooper as currently constructed.

3. I like this deal long term a lot. Fournette is risky long term and Ebron has never been great. Goedert has huge upside long term and Pittman is a solid prospect.

4. The Rams backfield is ugly and could be for a while and the most intriguing piece is Akers who has looked a little lost and struggled with blocking. The blocking could be a serious issue for him if it continues. Either way, I would rather lock up CEH.

I like trades 3 and 4 the best.
2 I don't think I'm interested in
1 I don't mind, but I'm hung up on the downgrade from waller to shultz just like you.

I'd snap up 3 and 4 now. But for 4, I don't think ceh will be anymore of a bell cow unless d williams moves on. But I think he's under contract for 1 more year

Both three and four I would take in an instant. I don't hate the Cooper trade but I am super low on him and it seems like you would be selling low.

Well, procrastination is certainly the enemy of success.

I got sidetracked last weekend, while chewing these options, and by the time I got back to it on Sunday, offers 3 & 4 had been retracted, as those owners completed other deals.

I declined #2, as I think Cooper provides me more value next year than Gibson/Mims... and I expect to contend again next year.

#1 is still on the table, but I am holding as more Waller offers come in from contenders.

Thanks or the replies!
