Anyone targeting injured players this yr looking for a discount?

Postby Ski mask ready » Sat Oct 31, 2020 7:55 am

Injuries in 2020 have been unreal. In one of my leagues my ir is full (5) and I have 4 more ir players rostered and several more injured non ir.

Anyone trading for players that are injured? If so who??

I bought Barkley for 2 late 1sts and James Robinson. I think taking injured players from competing teams is a decent rebuild strategy. Always depends on the injury though.

I think guys like Barkley, Dak, and Sutton are solid buys if not competing this year

Guys like CMC, Ekeler and Chubb could be cheaper depending on the owner, but they are coming back soon so there might not be a discount there.

Then there's some lesser profiles who could be cheaper due to a "slow start". Thinking of Reagor and Mims for starters

I'm starting to worry about guys like Deebo who just seem to be injury prone.

That's the thing, you have to have roster space to take on these guys and this year it's at a premium for reasons beyond normal injuries.

We added 2 more IR for this year too, but for some teams it simply hasn't helped enough.

Like you I've been ravaged by injuries, especially at running back - it's utterly ridiculous. But I'm still off to a strong 6-1 start, just have to hope a few RB starters of mine come back come back before the playoffs. Can't keep running out Gus Edwards and JaMycal Hasty as starters!

Otherwise, just not looking at bringing on even more injured guys as dart throws - unless you're in a total rebuild, it just doesn't make much sense this year.

The one guy who I'd want as a long term injury stash who comes to mind is already on my team and that's Penny.

I look at trading for injured players every year, and this year is no different. Any injured or IR player is a worthy target, though it may not be as good an idea in one league versus another.

The Barkley and Dak owners were great teams to target- both players were significant enough to be linchpins of aspiring contenders, and happened early enough that their season wasn't destroyed and could still contend. CMC, Chubb and Ekeler were/are good targets also, though the fact they weren't likely going to be out the year gave their owners hope and probably made them harder to get.

Failing trading FOR injured players, I like to trade players producing now that I question will be productive long term to the teams getting him by these big time injuries. But, that's the flip side of "Contender Buys".

I traded away Herbert/Jefferson/Gibson/JRobinson and received Barkley/Mahomes.

Time will tell obviously, but I’m capitalizing on the outlier year for rookies in exchange for what should be solidified studs, even with the Barkley ACL.

Always looking to trade for IR players if I'm middle of the pack or lower. If you can't compete, blow it up and IR players can be free money for future trades.

I’ve been pushing to get Ekeler since he went down, was able to get in one league for a late 1st.

Sutton would be a good target also.

What would be buying low for Sutton these days? Late first?

Excellent trade. That is for sure buying low.

I like Sutton but he's been tough to buy in most leagues for me. I also struggle to really give up something significant for a guy with more than just an ACL tear on a team that might be too good to be in position for Lawrence/Fields. He also put up 1100/6 which is impressive but if this injury saps some explosiveness and/or he gets behind on the target totem pole, could that be closer to his ceiling? I have my apprehensions about him so I probably won't get him.

Traded away Jacobs, Hollywood Brown, and a '21 2nd for Saquon, Jameis, and a '21 3rd in SF.
Also traded away Hunt and Cooper for Ekeler, Jeudy, Hurts, and a '21 2nd (all picks involved belong to the owner who originally owned Saquon)

Total haul: Saquon, Ekeler, Jeudy, Hurts, Jameis, '21 3rd
Gave away: Jacobs, Hunt, Cooper, Brown

Felt like a middle of the pack team this year so I decided to upgrade my RBs and grab some depth and youth at QB/WR. I'm a huge fan of Brown's talent, but I'm not very high on him on this Ravens offense for the foreseeable future, and any chance to grab Saquon, I'll take ASAP.

makes sense but every deal I see him in there is no significant piece heading back. I might have to send out some offers this week even on my contenders
