Darnell Mooney thread

Postby Ski mask ready » Fri Sep 25, 2020 11:26 am

I liked this guy in college and thought he'd get stuck behind everyone in Chi-Town but is finding success. What do you guys think about his chances to become more than a role player?

Grabbed him almost everywhere I could. I am encouraged on his ability to win in the short to intermediate areas so far, as being a deep threat isn't a question, to me.

Threw a dart this week at Mooney myself. Let's be real though, the Bears offense is unwatchable. And while he's not the typical sort of WR I go for, who knows? Doing decent so far. Also figured I had enough of the Miller rollercoaster, so I decided to hop on the Mooney crazy train! Haha

I picked him up everywhere as well. He may not make a ton of noise yet, but it's possible Robinson moves on at some point. Even if he doesn't, the only other competition in CHI is Miller.

The obvious downside is trubisky/foles. Not sure the offense can provide many consistent fantasy assets in the near future outside of ARob and potentially Montgomery.

Yep. I had to trade him away to get a deal done last weekend, but still have him in 3 out of 6 leagues. Until that team's offense and QB situation improves, he'll be wasted. 3 catches a game, type thing.

It’s funny I was watching the game and thought “this guy is a better version of Hollywood”

This is the same thing that's stopped me from buying in on other Bears WR's, though... Miller, A-Rob...

Name a Bears QB that has ever been (consistently) good.

Cutler? Foles? Those are about the high water marks.

They just can't seem to evaluate the position - nor offensive coaches - to save their lives. And at least these days, in a modern NFL - it's now not-for-lack of trying. The days of Defensive First teams are over... and the Trubiskey draft is going to forever live in ignominy.

to be fair foles had rushers right in his face each time and was backing away as he threw it. it's not like he can stand there like a statue like brady can and deliver the ball.

It's almost like football were some kind of team sport and you actually need an offensive line to block someone.

Yeah, it certainly helps, but when he has had the time, he's still missing Mooney, and others, on deeper routes.

Yeah. I would not move him for that, he's flashed. I'd want a more. Some people value picks a lot more, so it is worth offering a 3rd IMO. If you have Mooney, I'd hold him if offered that.
