As someone who has both i had a good and bad day. I just cant get over this with Swift, people are gonna just look at the box score and think its him, its NOT him. It is an incompetent coaching staff that for some reason wants to give AP more carries than swift. I am not up on offensive coordinators but is this a Bevell thing? Give Swift more carries and see what he can do. Its just so frustrating. Thank god im not competing this season or id be even more mad about this. Wish detroit lost that game so they could move on from Patricia.

As far as Gibson is concerned, i got him cheap, 2.10 pick back in May when Guice and Ap were still there and so far he seems like an absolute steal. He is learning the postion and unlike Patricia it really seems like Rivera wants him to be the guy eventually. Im much more concerned about Swift than i am gibson at this point even though i think Swift is more talented.
I agree. I have no idea what Detroit is doing with their backfield. To their credit, Swift is playing more, but outside of their game against Chicago, I don't see the value Peterson is adding as a back to justify the usage. Even though Kerryon Johnson hasn't been much, I think he could do what AP is doing right now and they could just roll with him and Swift.

To be fair, Peterson has looked pretty good up until this week and Swift was always part of a committee at Georgia.

The strangest development is the complete erasure of Kerryon.
Team 1 - 12 team PPR
QB: MRyan, MJones, CNewton, RFitz
RB: SBarkley, DSwift, CAkers, JMixon, AJDillon, LMurray, DarWilliams, GBernard
WR: SDiggs, ACooper, BAiyuk, JJones, LShenault, BCooks, KToney, KHamler, VJefferson
TE: JSmith, ISmith, ZErtz

Team 2 - 16 team, PPR, SF
QB: JBurrow, CWentz, ZWilson, Jimmy G
RB: SBarkley, DSwift, CAkers, BSnell, TGurley, DGuice
WR: JChase, BAiyuk, CSutton, THiggins, JJeudy, JReagor, BEdwards
TE: ISmith, HarBryant, DSample, TTremble

Kerryon was outperformed by Ty Johnson and Bo Scarbough last year. They then went out and invested a top 35 pick on a RB.

This should surprise no one.

I think you answered your own question. I had noticed that too, I think they told him not to overthink things and different positions, focus on carrying the ball 20-25 times vs a bad run D and he responded nicely.
Just observations, no questions. 1) Gibson is good. 2) Swift is potentially great, but DET be crazy.

I like from what I saw from Gibson. As somebody who has him in multiple leagues, I want to see a good day on the ground against somebody not named the Dallas Cowboys. Everybody does well against them. I really was hoping the Cowboys would have won, I would like to see a good young QB in Washington next year. Swift looks good. Great, I don't see. I think he can be a really good PPR back, for FF purposes, though, but Patricia may not be going anywhere next year, and that's concerning.

4 snaps in 2 weeks for Akers. Does anyone still believe in him? The Ram's RBs had 25 carries last night and none of them went to Akers

I don't necessarily so much believe in him. I think he might need to improve as a pass protector and that is why Brown is seeing the field over him.

Giving up on him seems silly given Hendersons trajectory...

That being said I thought he was closer to Dillon and Moss than Dobbins and Swift as a prospect

Even with LAR up 14 points Akers still wasn't trusted for garbage time. He easily could've just got his 2.3 ypc and milked clock.

Wonder if his ribs still bother him? It's supposed to be a much longer recovery.

It could be. It could also be that he hasn't won the reps in practice, or they may not trust him in pass pro. Goff is subpar against pressure, so the last thing they want is their overpaid QB taking big hits on missed assignments.

Agreed, there's a difference between lowering your valuation/expectations of him and "giving up." There's no reason to give up in the sense of dropping him or trading him for less than a 2nd. Things could change quickly due to injury.

What we do know is that he's not the lead back, which was the expectation and the reason his rookie ADP was 1.5. Therefore a drop in value is only reasonable, and obviously warranted given his lack of play. Holding seems reasonable given owners' likely high investment in him. Trading for a a reduced but still palatable price to get out of him if you want to mitigate risk also seems reasonable.

I hope we're starting to put to bed the ridiculous notion that the backfield usage was simply a random week-to-week whim of McVay.

I traded Akers a while back, but honestly, even if his rookie year is a wash, he still enters next year younger than Miles Sanders did his rookie year, for some perspective.

When I drafted Akers' I thought about the glory days with Gurley..... I forgot about the great transparency we had when Gurley had the knees of an 80 year old and you couldn't get a word out of McVay. I actually should've trusted Matt Patricia over the boy genius. Things I wish I would've known 6 months ago.

Akers =/= Gurley. We all knew that.

He's young and will get chances. No point in bailing low now.
