What to do with Mike Evans? Does he still have *ANY* value?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

The concern is he's a couple of 1 yard TDs away from being JuJu right now and he's failed to eclipse 10 yards receiving in half of his games despite most of his competition for targets missing much of the year.
Except Evans has eclipsed 1000 receiving yards six straight seasons, and every year he's been in the league lol. Evans is still ridiculously talented, he's just been banged up this year, and frankly has been misused. The three times Evans has been targeted a respectable amount of times for someone of his talent, he has had:

7 receptions for 104 yards and 1 TD (10 targets) - 23.4 PPR points
7 receptions for 122 yards and 1 TD (9 targets) - 25.2 PPR points
5 receptions for 41 yards and 1 TD (9 targets) - 15.1 PPR points

In the other 3 games, Evans has a COMBINED 10 targets, of which he caught 4 passes, three being for TDs.
Those "other 3 games" happen to be the 3 games that Godwin played in this year.

So given what you said above, how do you expect Evans' targets to look the rest of the year with Godwin AND Brown in the lineup now?
We’re talking about a 32 year old receiver that’s played one game since 2018 and can’t stay on a team and out of trouble, but he’s going to walk in and make one of the best receivers in the league irrelevant?

Hence my comment that he's a few 1 yard TDs away from being JuJu.

And let's be real, 1 catch for 2 yards with a TD is not a "good" game as it was described.

Evans is basically a TD dependent TE right now that you have to start at the WR position. He has 10 targets and 14 yards in the 3 games that Godwin has played and now Godwin is back along with AB coming to town.

Yards are far more predictive of future success. You wouldn't pick up the fullback if he just scored 2 TDs one game...

Godwin is a 32 year old receiver that's played one game since 2018? I thought he was a 24 year old coming off a stud season that clearly has TB's eye a LOT more than Evans when both he and Evans are in the lineup.

AB is just the cherry on top of the Evans ruh roh. Evans has only gotten meaningful targets this year when the alternative targets were Scotty Miller and Justin Watson. Now the alternatives are Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown.

There are so many good WRs in the league right now one that is dependent on everyone around him getting hurt to be a mid-WR2 just isn't worth paying up for.

Guys like Lockett and Woods are one year older than Evans and with Godwin/AB in there, what are the chances they outscore Evans the rest of the year and next at 1/4th the cost?

You’re ignoring the injury and making that determination from a meaningless sample size. Go ahead and sell him though.

Yes, I was clearly talking about Godwin. I love owners that make awful decisions like this because of recency bias. Diggs is doing great for me this year. Take advantage of people like this.

As the OP I was certainly trying to incite lively chatter and wow that worked, but I still stand by the numbers showing concern. While he has had 4 games in a row with great fantasy production before this last week, if you look at how he got those numbers it’s very scary. Someone above said he’s basically a TD dependent TE and while funny, that’s true too.

3 of 6 games with less than 10 yards + one more with less than 50 yards. Multiple times saving his day by making a single catch in the game of two yards for a TD.

All of his poor games coming when Godwin was on the field and now we’re taking about adding AB too.

I’m holding him for now. I also just traded for RoJo since there will never be another 8 man front against the Bucs again this season.

His fantasy numbers haven’t been terrible, but his “production” has been at least severely below expectations.

Here’s hoping AB falls into the role of decoy instead of distraction, but that seems unlikely.

If this is the level of concern, I'm going out to try to buy Evans. The 1 yard touchdowns are an offense feature, not a fluke. He's filling the Gronk role from the Patriots. There is the chance that AB suppresses the value of the other pass catchers. There is a greater chance (IMO) that he doesn't finish the year in Tampa.

That’s an interesting thought, that he is filling the Gronk role for Brady 🤔

I just offered Julio staight up for Evans because I think Evans recovers from his injury but Julio is nearing the end and will continue to get injured with increasing frequency.
