Well, it kind of does. Brown did weight in the 170s last year. Now he's bulked up. If there were a ton of WRs who weighed in the 170s and were successful, the size argument would be shot.
I don't think his size is the issue with not meeting fantasy football expectations right now though. It's more the Ravens having relatively few pass attempts and game flow. They were up big in weeks 1 and 2 and wanted to kill the clock with the run game.
Marquise Brown is the best value in the draft

This was the concern with him as a FF player. He is similar to DJax in that if he doesnt hit the big play you're not going to be happy. Great for best ball and frustrating to start everywhere else.

Only place I have him, luckily. He'd be even better for worst ball, this year.jenkins.math wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 5:46 am This was the concern with him as a FF player. Can you imaging the Packers doing something that makes sense in the draft!! Re: What's wrong with Hollywood brown?
Yeah, it's a shame. I loved him as a prospect and totally cooled on him when he landed in BAL. Granted, Lamar has vastly exceeded my expectations from that point in time for the Ravens offense. But still, the way many of us perceived BAL as a running offense and that is what they are at the end of the day. Their running is so dangerous that the passing game opened up a ton last year. Now that coordinators had a chance to scheme in the offseason, they are limiting Lamar more... still a beast but teams are doing a better job keeping the offense contained.
If he had a better landing spot, I think he could be a monster.

Great, we're back to pretending that weight has any meaningful correlation to WR production.DJB wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 7:24 pm This is whats wrong with him...

Brown is still getting open at each level of the field and running a complete route tree. There is nothing wrong with him. The Ravens offense was awful last week and the week before, they were up big and didn't need to do much.
Brown is really good; don't overthink it.

Anyway, I had drafted him in quite a few places last year but sold him everywhere. He just looks small out there, was having injury issues seemingly all the time, and that offense in general is very low passing volume. I'm sure he can still turn out great but it was just too many issues for me. I saw one pass last week that clanged off his hands as well.
Re: What's wrong with Hollywood brown?
He's getting open, Lamar has missed him for 2 clear TD's. He will never be a consistent guy, but the HR's are coming
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts
Re: What's wrong with Hollywood brown?
Correlation doesn't equal causation.
The biggest reason smaller WRs haven't produced in the past is more because of the league being far less accepting of smaller athletes in the past, so a guy that size just wouldn't get an opportunity. The game is changing and players are getting smaller, or at least smaller players aren't being looked at in quite as negative of a light, so this is one of the few times in league history that a player like Hollywood is given a real opportunity to produce at those levels. There's nothing wrong with Brown and his production this year has been inline with that of many excellent to elite WRs of the past several years over a 3 week period. WRs are very inconsistent fantasy performers week to week to begin with.

Re: What's wrong with Hollywood brown?
The Ravens offense has issues right now.
2019, they were Navy offense, run at you a million different ways, and take short/mid-range passes that opened up off of it.
2020, they are trying to be a play action passing team; even having Lamar do more straight drop backs. Baltimore RBs only have 18 carries per game combined right now. Dobbins has 3 carries in the last 2 games combined. Its as if they are trying to showcase that Lamar can be a passer, an ubermensch quarterback.
They need to get back to what worked in 2019, and simply add a little more downfield passing when it's available. Jab, jab, jab with the run, then use Marquise as the knockout punch when the jabs open it up. Instead, they're just pretending like they are big-swingers. It's counter-intuitive, but in my opinion, Marquise would have more success if they tried to pass a little bit less.

Re: What's wrong with Hollywood brown?
I think they saw that the run heavy offense is fine for the regular season but is unlikely to get them to and/or win a superbowl. I don't mind them trying to do something different. Whether Lamar and the rest of the team can pull it off is a different story though.Lord_Varys wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 10:30 am The Ravens offense has issues right now.

He weighed 166 pounds at the combine. Its 100% relevant.FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 4:29 amFair. Not sure why bother running one for under 170 pounds, though, it doesn't pertain to the player.
I think he also said he was around 170 pounds last year.

OK, but he's not now. I mean, Lev Bell was 230 plus pounds at the combine, but 217 once he started to dominate. He's 180 pounds now, so I don't really see how the player can be lumped into a 170 pound or less box, but if that's the context you want to put it in, sure. Players who were under 170 pounds pre NFL draft. Not players who are actually under 170 pounds.DJB wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 6:24 amHe weighed 166 pounds at the combine. I vote D. all of the above
Calm the f down, he's always been a WR3 and the Ravens offense is partially to blame
