Justin Herbert Long Term

Postby thebeast » Sun Sep 20, 2020 4:22 pm

They say you can’t lose your job to injury, but I don’t know... I think Tyrod is holding a clipboard again after this one. Herbert looked great. This is an increase in value for the entire Chargers offense if he stays the starter (especially Henry).

I think they may as well go with Herbert now.

I also think Henry would get his no matter who is the QB

The only reason to NOT start a rookie QB is because they aren't ready. Sure looked ready enough today. Will look much better with a full week of work.

KC was game planning for Taylor until an hour before the game. He played well, but I think you just go with Herbert. TT was always a backup player IMO. Not a fan of Herbert, but he's the better option.

This situation has happened many times. Coming in as a surprise and doing well. Then the following week faring much worse.

Yeah, there's no way you can go back to Taylor after that.

There was a preseason thread on here where people called him "Trashbert". I thought he looked really solid and non trashy

Very good start for Herbert. He looked like he belonged. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I may wish I didn't fade him in my drafts.

You and me both. I faded him in all my drafts too, I didn’t think he would make the transition and thought he was a reach by the Chargers. That said, I was excited to see him play well today and was hoping he was going to get the W.

I had no idea how to rate Herbert coming in. Oregon was such a mess.

It was definitely a good showing, but as somebody mentioned above, KC prepared for Tyrod all week.

I'll be very interested to see how he does next week.

Glad to see Herbert do well. I had him as my top QB, but mostly due to major flaws in the other top QBs of this draft. Certainly, he’s still got a ways to go, but you couldn’t ask for much better of a start.

They are still saying Taylor is the starter. How can you go back to him after what you saw from Herbert?

What major flaws do Burrow and Tua have (other than Tuas injuries) that Herbert doesn't have? Herberts only advantages over them as an individual player are size and arm strength, which are both overrated/overvalued traits, and post draft he probably has the best supporting cast around him for the immediate future of the 3. Herbert was impressive and much better than expected, but he's still far behind Burrow.

The Browns said the same thing immediately after Baker came in and won his debut. Herbert is going to keep the job, and Lynn will absolutely lose his if he really does go back to Tyrod and they miss the playoffs.
