The Athletic reported that the Raiders were concerned about him getting distracted in Vegas and other off field concerns. The police raided his grandmother's home in June, which Bowden was present at the time, no arrests but apparently they confiscated a bunch of assault rifles.

Now if Vegas was too much for Bowden then Miami is pretty concerning as a destination.

They drafted Bowden in the 3rd. Reportedly he was awful in camp and now they trade a 6th round pick with him for a 4th.

Sure, credit for admitting a sunk cost and getting out while you can, but bleep woof.
So, I think this is terrible for Bowden who I own in 1 league. But I think this is great for the Raiders. Learning to move on quickly and take a sunk cost is part of being successful in my opinion. No one makes the right decision 100% of the time, but the earlier you can admit that and move on (and in some cases recoup value) the better you are.
Now there’s a glass half full kind of guy.

I think what makes teams successful is not making a mistake of that magnitude in the first place. The Raiders clearly didn’t do their due diligence on Bowden and instead chose him as a shiny toy. Sure, guys bust at the next level. They just can’t make the transition. But this was a huge reach with no fit on their offense.

When your a 3rd round pick in April, then your used as a throw in to improve a 6th round pick to a 5th round pick something went very wrong in those 4 months 😂

i own him in one league and i can see character issues being a problem. Also read something that said he was more interested in buying cars than he was football. I believe the Raiders made a mistake in trying to convert him to Rb or "joker". His true position is WR and thats where MIA will put him. Bowden has a better chance to have success as a slot WR in the nfl.

Reports are they're playing him at WR. However, couldn't Oakland have realized this mid camp and pivoted? He must also have sucked at WR. I know Zay Jones/Nelson Agholor is formidable, but come on. Probably not enough time to convert positions if he was starting as a RB. I'm going to avoid him like the plague either way.

Some stuff coming out about Bowden posting on social media (some that he subsequently deleted), about the team. Some attitude issues etc. I think they got his character wrong in the pre draft process. Gruden and Mayock aren't going to sit around and have a diva style rookie pouting on social media.

There was talk of him having more concern with picking up new cars than the playbook, and that he was becoming increasingly distracted in Vegas, and that he might be a negative influence on the other rookies, per Vic Tafur. In a year where there was not as much access to players, it seems the Raiders did not get the character of the player right, and realized there error. On top of that, he wasn't looking explosive, and wasn't developing well.

It's not easy to just convert offensive positions. There are very few success stories involving converting positions in the nfl. It takes a different mind set and different skill set to succeed at all the things required of a running back. Being patient when need be, hitting a hole at full speed when need be, covering the ball, adjusting pad level through the hole, pass block, blitz pickup then slide out of the backfield, running a route where one is supposed to. Its a combo of learning and natural football sense.
