Fournette - what to do with him

Are Fournette owners holding until they see where he signs? Do you sell on the hope he gets a lead role? Do buyers get him despite the uncertainty, or risk him getting unsigned like Guice?

Lol he is in a FAR different situation than Guice.... there's zero chance of him not landing a job by week 1 and could end up in a better opportunity than he originally had this year in Jacksonville.

What spot could he go to where he would have a better opportunity than Jacksonville? He was going to get all the touches he could handle in Jax this year. Now he is hoping to get some work as part of a committee or hoping someone gets hurt in front of him on the depth chart.

TB I think hes much better than Rojo or Vaughn who are on a good day replacement level

Clearly he wasn't in Jacksonville's plans for a large workload or else they would have kept him, so he goes from somewhere that doesn't want him to having the opportunity to go somewhere that does want him. I could absolutely see a team like NE picking him up, and then he quickly passes the rest of the depth chart for a majority of the rushing opportunities. Or Chicago has a pretty glaring hole at RB right now, he could go in there and lock up the job while Montgomery is still recovering.

There a lot of talk about how little he may be worth etc but the real point is what HE thinks he's worth.
As the to the Eagles and Hyde point, the Eagles didn't get Hyde because they low balled him, maybe with Sanders injury they might re asses and offer LF a deal but with their cap space I doubt they can afford the price that LF thinks he is worth (my assumption is he thinks he's worth a lot more than Hyde, regardless what us fantasy GMs think he's worth).

Is there any precedence for a 1st round RB being outright cut by their original team before their rookie contract is up? Closest thing I can think of is Trent Richardson who was at least cut by the team that traded for him.

Offensive line plays such a massive role in a team's success. The cardinals will learn the hard way just like the Colts with Luck. How can we be in the year 2020 and teams don't put a higher value on the line????

They dont sell merch/tickets. Lines win championships, Star power brings in the money. There is a reason the consistent barely middle of the pack Cowboys are the most valuable sports franchise in the world to this day. Obviously an extreme case but point still holds, money isnt all about winning, its about doing it with style.

It's not like I'm saying alll you need is an offensive line and then a bunch of bums to win. Of course you still need stars which definitely helps with marketing. It also depends on the market. The Cowboys were pretty mediocre to bad for a long time after the Aikman years, and yet the franchise is still the most valuable. It wasn't because they had all these super stars flowing through the team. Ultimately winning is going to produce the most interest in a team.

Which leads to the point that I made about Luck. They had the star QB and they thought they could try to build through other positions since he was too good to need a star line. He gets killed routinely and then sees the light about how much the franchise really cared about his health.

Chargers need to be added to the list. Despite the coach speak, ekeler will never be a 3 down back and Justin Jackson is a jag. Fournette would serve three purposes as a crutch for Herbert to lean on, preserving ekeler, and get them closer to having more fans showing up at home games than their opponents for a change.

Except that franchise is probably broke, with one of the cheapest owners in the entire league.

LF and especially his agents know that there is not going to be big money available to them right now, and the best path to the most earning potential going forward is a 1 year prove it deal, and then hopefully getting an extension or longterm contract in the open market in the offseason. He's not going to be unobtainable financially for any team in the league that really wants him this year.

I'm holding. I was immediately offered Tarik Cohen in a league that rewards .2 ppc. I thought I had a lock for at least one year of a ton of carries. He is a pretty good running back imo. Being the main guy for the Jags wasn't easy. Their offensive line has been close to the bottom every year he played there.

Totally. The focus was fantasy players spazzing out about the player getting cut, not the cause of it. Guice owners had to adjust to their player not getting signed. Hopefully, Fournette owners don't get similarly crushed.

They just gave Bosa a record breaking contract and guaranteed 14M to Melvin Ingram, they are not going to have any problems paying LF the small amount of money he's going to command if they decide they do want to bring him in.

Fournette is not going to cost $4M once he clears waivers. Every team in the league will be able to make the cap space to add LF (if they don't already have it) if that's the direction they decide they want to go.
