Antonio Gibson Rocket Ship - Round 2
Antonio Gibson Rocket Ship - Round 2
I saw Curtis Patrick suggest that Gibson could go in the 1.8 in rookie drafts now (although he did say he still preferred the WRs). Why say you? Where would he slot for 0.5 PPR or full point PPR? I could see as of today him going as high as the 1.9.
Team 1, 10-team 0.5-PPR
QB (1): Richardson, Watson, Purdy
RB (2-3): Walker, Swift, Dobbins, R. White, Mitchell, Gainwell
WR (3-4): Hill, Godwin, Aiyuk, Flowers, N. Collins, Doubs, M. Wilson, Shakir
TE (1-2): McBride, Goedert, Okonkwo
QB (1): Richardson, Watson, Purdy
RB (2-3): Walker, Swift, Dobbins, R. White, Mitchell, Gainwell
WR (3-4): Hill, Godwin, Aiyuk, Flowers, N. Collins, Doubs, M. Wilson, Shakir
TE (1-2): McBride, Goedert, Okonkwo
Re: Antonio Gibson rocket ship
1.08 is a hefty price to pay for Younger Cordarrelle Patterson.
12-team SF, PPR, TE premium, 0.25 PPCarry
1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 1SF 4Flex
QB: Mahomes, Fields, Love
RB: Bijan, ETN, Pollard, Achane, Herbert
WR: Kupp, Hill, Metcalf, Ridley, Jeudy, D.J. M, Burks, Hollywood, Wan'Dale
TE: Kyle Pitts, Goedert
Re: Antonio Gibson rocket ship
I already considered Guice a penny stock before the recent news, so no change in Gibson's value.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.

Re: Antonio Gibson rocket ship
Why 1.08? He's not a high-end talent, Washington's situation isn't appealing, and he has an extremely low volume rushing sample in college.

Depends where you put K Vaughn. In my earlier drafts, he's was going mid 2nd, but he pushed up to late 1st. I'd put Gibson over him. While that might seem like putting significant value on opportunity, I like Gibson's big play ability.

I'd argue that he is actually very talented, but the rest of what you said is spot on. If he is worth a first rounder now then owners should be cashing out immediately.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 2:04 pm Why 1.08? His realistic ceiling looks like Percy Harvin/Tarik Cohen. If he maintains RB eligibility for fantasy and hits Percy Harvin's best season then he would be worth a first round pick. However the floor is Cordarelle Patterson/Tavon Austin and I would argue that he ends up being closer to those 2 than his ceiling.

Where are all the breakout age/dominator rating nuts out there not raising any stink about this guy's prospects. If he was half as good as people think he is, he would have gotten more than 77 total touches in his college career. He's basically a poor man's Cordarrelle Patterson.

Re: Antonio Gibson rocket ship
I can think of two prolific players in Kamara and Terrell Davis as guys who didn’t get anywhere near the workload in college as their NFL careers would have indicated that they should have warranted.Hottoddies wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 2:49 pm Where are all the breakout age/dominator rating nuts out there not raising any stink about this guy's prospects. Not saying that Gibson is comparable to either guy, just that it does happen.
Re: Antonio Gibson rocket ship
It's definitely an area of concern, and considerably lowers his floor.. but I don't see how people can limit his upside because of it. The dude is 6' 228 and runs a 4.39 forty, displayed good size adjusted lateral agility and good contact balance.. and was absolutely electric in the few opportunities he did have.Bronco Billy wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 4:18 pmI can think of two prolific players in Kamara and Terrell Davis as guys who didn’t get anywhere near the workload in college as their NFL careers would have indicated that they should have warranted.Hottoddies wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 2:49 pm Where are all the breakout age/dominator rating nuts out there not raising any stink about this guy's prospects. He's most likely more Cordarrelle Patterson than elite RB; but it's worth noting that while there are similarities between the two, Patterson's highlights were much more gadgety (Reverses, Kick Returns, short passes that get him out in space) where a fair amount of Gibson's have come directly from handoffs out of the backfield.
So few people posses the traits Gibson has that it's not really fair to compare him to much less physically talented players. While I wouldn't bet on this, he could absolutely be the Tyreek Hill of RBs.
1st round is too rich for my blood in this draft, though. Way too much talent this year.

This now feels like the Henderson thread from last year.

Re: Antonio Gibson rocket ship
If you wanna take him as RB6 I think thats fair, but Ive been saying it for a while now that going rb over wr in the late first/early 2nd is a mistake which is my issue with bumping him to 1.8 or so. I cant justify taking him over Jefferson, reagor, ruggs at all and most likely not for higgins, mims, aiyuk etc
