If the season isn't played at all, then I don't believe they get paid, or accrue a year. Not sure about if it's shortened, but I am not positive.

Cam was more than happy to force feed KB's fat bleep, so this is probably good for Harry.

That’s what I’m saying. Running lanes for Michel, more f*ckit throws downfield to guys like Harry, fewer check downs to Edelman and White.Shankopotamus wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 6:02 pm Cam was more than happy to force feed KB's fat bleep, so this is probably good for Harry.

It's possible that Stidham isn't good. I say that he may be a better pocket passer, which suits the typical BB team better. Maybe it doesn't matter, maybe Stidham isn't better, but it wouldn't be that crazy if Stidham was a better pure pocket passer right now.StripesOfKC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 5:33 pmCam isn't a good pocket passer.

Agree. 7 mil is *dirt* cheap for a vet starter, sure, but it’s also more money than just about any backup (that’s not on a rookie deal). I don’t think you sign Cam to not start him. Also my stance on Stidham is and has always been: only thing he’s got going for him is being drafted by that FO.Dynasty DeLorean wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 6:50 pmI don’t see how anyone could think otherwise

IDK about a "big boost". Really depends on how good Cam's arm is after multiple problems. He did not look good last year.Dynasty DeLorean wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 6:50 pmI don’t see how anyone could think otherwise

Not sure how much of a boost a QB whose biggest problem is accuracy is for a WR who can't separate against linebackers though in the efficiency department though

I still think the Pats will be run heavy, personally. They can't rely on Cam's arm. Couldn't even do that in Cam's prime.StripesOfKC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 7:11 pmBoost for volumeFantasyFreak wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 7:09 pmIDK about a "big boost". Re: Cam Newton to Patriots
That's my thoughts too. I can see the Pat's going with a Ravens-like offense and using up Cam for all he's worth. A lot of run plays and run pass options for Cam.FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 7:13 pm I still think the Pats will be run heavy, personally. They can't rely on Cam's arm. This is good for the run game, bad for the WRs.
Not all that counts can be counted. Not all that can be counted counts.
Re: Cam Newton to Patriots
Yup cam isn’t a great pocket passer, but you have enough evidence to contend that Stidham who’s thrown for 14 yards and a pick in the NFL IS. NICE.StripesOfKC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 5:33 pmCam isn't a good pocket passer.

Re: Cam Newton to Patriots
Stidham was a high level recruit coming out of high school. 4 star from Rivals and ESPN, 5 star from 247Sports and Scout. Ranked as high as #2 dual threat qb. He was coveted, committed to Texas Tech that’s all about passing, then switched to Baylor, a school known for a prolific offensive system that relies on a crafty QB. He got the opportunity to start as a true freshman for Baylor, and did pretty well with it. He chipped a bone in his ankle and was done after a few starts. Baylor had sexual assault charges, lost coaching staff, and Stidham transferred out of the mess. He took his talent to Auburn (not bad) and was named their starter (huh...seems coveted enough by many big programs) and then leads Auburn to an SEC West Division championship (not bad), taking down highly rated Georgia and Alabama (eh). Declares for draft. Gets rave reviews at the senior bowl. So...pretty interesting resume so far right?
Here it gets a twist in the road. He is NOT hyped, in any way, by the draft pundits. He gets no press. Pretty much just a guy to plug into a mock draft to a team that needs a backup. And if you don’t think the mock draft season has a strong as heck influence on the real draft, you aren’t paying attention. So Stidham falls. Belichick (a guy I trust more than the Kipers and Mcshays) scoops him up.
Then Stidham goes on to have a great preseason. Really, the most impressive looking of all the rookie QBs.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.c ... atform=amp
Belichick trusted this rookie enough to let the experienced in the system Hoyer go and have Stidham the direct backup to Brady, which says at least something about how Bill felt about him.
What Stidham has going for him...is a lot of upside imo. He’s still an unknown, like most young players (especially qbs) but man to say the only thing he has going for him is the FO that drafted him...is pretty short sighted. To only look at draft round and total output so far in the nfl...also short sighted.
Yes, Cam is a former MVP. He was a truly phenomenal and unique player. Maybe he still has a lot of that. Maybe not. But...maybe let’s not write off Stidham as a nobody with zero chance. Or do so if you like...as this is just a game anyways.

I just don’t see it with Stidham.
My track record scouting QBs is pretty rough though (at least until recently, loved both Mahomes and Jackson) so I won’t be surprised if he’s the next Brady.

In any case, he didn't get any press/hype because he was bad as a 22 year old junior. His numbers that year compared unfavorably to Jarrett Guarantano's, whoever that is. It's not like he's particularly toolsy either. He's not really fast, his ball velocity isn't noteworthy. He looks like JAG to me. It seems like he throws a really pretty ball, but I would expect a future NFL starter to have been better in college than Stidham was in 2018. Stranger things have happened than Stidham breaking out, but I'm not surprised New England went in a different direction.
If you're a true believer, try to get him as a throw in.
