Jon Beason

Postby Steelersfan » Sun Sep 11, 2011 5:31 pm

Panthers coach Ron Rivera referred to MLB Jon Beason's left ankle injury as "dire" after Sunday's loss to Arizona.
It may seem harsh, but this is what you get for rushing back a player from an Achilles' injury. Rivera confirmed Beason's latest ailment is to the same foot. The Panthers are officially withholding return timetables until MRI results become available, but at this point it sounds career-threatening. Beason was signed to a new six-year, $51.34 million contract in late July.

The Panthers have confirmed that MLB Jon Beason's injury is to his Achilles' tendon, not his ankle.

Two sources have told the Gaston Gazette's Steve Reed that Beason's Achilles' tendon is torn, which jibes with a Sunday evening ProFootballTalk report that he had suffered a "serious" Achilles' tendon injury. The Panthers could announce as early as this afternoon that they've lost their star linebacker for the season.

I think it makes Anderson more valueable, just like last season, Connor was highly inconsistant.

Panthers MLB Jon Beason has been officially diagnosed with a torn Achilles' tendon, and will miss the 2011 season.

He will undergo surgery this week. It's the worst-case scenario for Carolina's IDP stud, who has never missed a start since being the No. 25 overall pick of the 2007 draft. He had been dealing with Achilles' soreness since May, however, and undoubtedly came back too quickly. The blame for that lies squarely on the Panthers, not the player. Dan Connor will take his place in the middle, and is worth an immediate add in IDP leagues.

 What are the odds of him coming back to full form anyone know? Didn't Demeco Ryans tear his achilles last year?

Its real early in the season. Thats a big plus for him. If everything goes right with the surgery and rehab, he should be good to go next season.

Man.. this really sucks.... traded for him twice this off-season and allready had him on one other team :( .. glad I picked up Connor in all of those leagues and also kept Thomas Davis through his two years of injuries. Still... it SUCKS!!!

Rumor is this injury could be career ending, pretty poor considering it looks like Carolina rushed Beason back from previous injury

EDIT: Monumental day for me, as this is my first ever IDP posting :D I joined a local IDP league recently, so I'm officially an IDP "guppy"

You're a Guppy alright! :D

I really hope it's not a career ender. He is such a great LB....plus I have him on a few teams, and really needed him healthy! :D

WTF are the Panthers waiting for to put Beason on the IR???
i can't move him into an IR spot in my league 'until the NFL team actually place the player on IR".
any reason they haven't done so yet???

also, did anyone hear if the was a full tear ala Demaryius Thomas, or a partial tear ala DeMeco Ryans???

Sad. Such a great player. I wonder if he'll be able to recover enough to start again. Achilles are tough injuries. Being a MLB probably helps his chances. I don't know.
