This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

It's the injury risk and downward production to worry about. Would you take Julio over the 1.01?

The thing with Gurley is for 2 years he has been a TD dependant asset that it often felt was force fed the ball so he could score and justify his contract. I love Gurley as a guy but when I breakdown his gamelogs he makes my palms sweat.

This is especially true if you are competing, which you are not. Gurley does not put your team over the top. The other issue is that you did not just give up a first for him, but you gave up a first and a second. JJAW has little to no value here.

That first and second round pick would have been much better for you long term, and your team would be in better shape with the picks.

But good luck.

Is he still even proven? He might be unemployed 12 months from now, it's not that far fetched.

Gurley is the definition of a boom/bust asset.

Like others have said, he could be out of the league soon, but he also could maintain his production and quell some of these arthritis fears much like Matt Forte did midway into his career.

I like the trade myself, and think Gurley has a big bounce back year. So good on you for shooting for the upside. Atlanta is a good offense, they throw to their backs, primarily use one back, and only have Gurley on a cheap one yr deal - so they won't be protecting their long term contractual asset.

(this part is more for other ppl but I guess it might relate to the OP) But if after reading most of these other posts you now want to sell, I'd wait until week 3/4 of the season when he's playing great with higher touches (than last season), and the arthritic fears have subsided a bit. The probability is high that he will still be healthy in the early yr, and then at least you've bought low and sold high.

Right, I thought the whole point was to win. I think the Falcons are going to use Gurley as a bell cow, and the Falcons offense is way more explosive than the Rams.

I know last year was dismal but isn't this the Rams offense that put up record breaking numbers beating KC on Monday night in a historic shootout? I mean the Falcons may have a more explosive offense but then again maybe Gurley being unable to perform is part of way the Rams fell so hard so fast? I am not saying its true but you have no doubts at all he was a victim of a bad system and not a contributor to its failure?

I think most of it was the Oline and Jared Goff not being able to handle poor Oline play. That is why they switched to 12 personnel midway through the season.

I would have gone with the picks. I still believe in Gurley but I don't believe his value at this point is at the level of this trade.

Solid logic train, I think its an overpay for him at this stage but that is based on risk assessment. He absolutely could ball out and prove the doubters wrong, heres hoping it works out for OP.
