Carlos Hyde

Postby gmoftheyear » Sun May 10, 2020 5:46 am

No one has signed him yet as i find that surprising. Hyde had a solid season for the Texans last year. I'm surprised some team hasn't picked him up to add to their backfield. Anyone heard any rumors about where he might land? I've heard nothing.

I could see the Eagles picking him up, but haven't heard anything.

I'm holding. A RB somewhere in the league is bound to go down.

Yeah, I'm holding for the moment too. Just surprised haven't read anything on interest in him at all.

Maybe because older backs, teams want physicals. Cheap Howard replacement for Eagles, you heard it here first. LOL. That would make a ton of sense to me, though.

There's no market for old or injured RBs right now. It's why Hyde, Freeman, Miller, McCoy, Ajayi, and others are still free agents. Also didn't help that a strong RB class came in.

Maybe a few of them get looks when/if training camp rolls around.

I came to say this. Hyde was singled out in the OP, but in reality there are a plethora of RBs looking for work, not just Hyde. The market is saturated right now, so I'm not surprised that Hyde is a FA.

He's a volume back, will be on his 5th team in 5 seasons and, in general, play calling has left this type of back behind. He has some value as a short yardage back, not as a special teams asset. Another 1 year deal is his best option.

He wasn’t taken a look at before because teams didn’t want to mess with compensatory picks. He is rumored to be signed by the Eagles, and be an early down/goal line veteran RB. He would work in well with Sanders, as a nice 1-2 punch.

I should buy a lottery ticket. Not signed, but multiple reports saying they are interested.

I just don't think he's very good, I feel he'll be a backup/fill in on whatever team signs him. I don't think there is much chance he gets to be the lead back anywhere.

Talk of him going to PHI.

Which is depressing, since they have a solid O-line that can give him big enough running lanes to plod through.

This feels like a want for a guy to fail in his livelihood in order for your pre-conceived notions of his career arc to not be false...like you’re wishing the guy would “just be a worthless player already.”
If that’s true, I’d reconsider how seriously and of high importance you hold your own fantasy takes. If not, I apologize for my assumption.

There's also talk of LeSean McCoy and Devonta Freeman going to Philly. None are particularly inspiring as Miles Sanders backups.

QB: L Jackson, Tagovailoa, Rodgers, Pickett, Tannehill
RB: Swift, Pacheco, Sanders, Hubbard, Spears, Dillon, Herbert, McLaughlin, Chandler, Dowdle
WR: DeVonta, Waddle, Aiyuk, Nacua, McLaurin, Hopkins, M Williams, Mingo, Wan’Dale, Hyatt
TE: Kelce, Okonkwo, Schoonmaker
