Drew Lock Trade Value

Postby tresskid84 » Mon Apr 13, 2020 7:50 am

Took over a Fish Safe League Team 3 days after the start-up auction started (almost 100 guys were already sold/off the board including most of the rbs, lol). After a week or so of making moves, heres what the team looks like (Safe League #287 . . . 12tm Superflex, 2pt TE prem):

QBs: Wentz, Mayfield, Lock
RBs: Conner, Henderson & M Brown, Cohen, Z Moss, B Love, Scarbrough, D Anderson
WRs: C Sutton, McLaurin, Hollywood Brown, M Williams, Diontae, Reagor, Higgins, Shenault, A Miller, H Butler, Collin Johnson, G Ward
TEs: M Andrews, Hock, Olsen, F Moreau
2021 Picks:
Three 1st Rounders
Two 2nd Rounders

I want to trade Lock, what value range of player should I be looking at (12tm sf, 2pt TE prem). Are names like Gallup, CEH, Montomery, Kerryon, or future 1s the right range? Going by startup adp data ive accumulated it appears close, but adp's can also be highly variable.

Any suggestions? Am I on the right track with that valuation?

I would sit tight and hold Lock, as he showed quite a bit of promise towards the end of last season. If he were to break out this year, he could jump Mayfield in value...Lock is in a good situation in Denver imho.

My personal rule of thumb in superflex formatting is to hold 3 starters at all times, and you currently have that. (FWIW I own Kerryon in one of my leagues and if the Lock owner came to me offering him for Kerryon, I would jump all over that immediately).

Use your picks to build out the rest of your roster (specifically RB). I like what you have going at WR, Sutton, McLaurin, Hollywood have all shown promise to be a WR2 or possibly better. You also have plenty of prospects in Reagor, Higgins, Shenault, A Miller. Your TE situation is OK, and the prospects aren't game changing at the position this draft. Maybe see if you can trade for a guy like Herndon for dirt cheap to be your 2nd TE prospect.

I would invest two of those first rd picks in RB and the other in WR, unless you have Burrows fall into your lap.
12 TEAM SUPERFLEX, TE Premium, 25 man rosters

RB - CMC | Chubb | Dobbins | Keaontay Ingram
WR - McLaurin | Deebo | Waddle | Gabriel Davis | Elijah Moore | Mooney | C Ridley | Jameson Williams | Pickens | Alec Pierce | Wan'dale Robinson | Justyn Ross | B Edwards
TE - M Andrews | Friermuth

2023 Picks: 1st round(2), 2nd round(2), 3rd round (2)

Sitting on him is probably wise, I just am not the biggest fan of his, haha. Acquired him as value filler in order to snag Sutton.

Also, the picks are all 2021 picks. Its not a devy league, all the rookies were included in the startup auction, though that is my hope for next year, haha.

Ended up trading Lock and Z Moss for a future 1 and 2.

I own Lock and would trade for any 1st round pick this year. Maybe an early 2nd.

Moss has been getting some and mocked to BAL by some. It's okay value, but I probably would've held Lock and Moss unless those picks are projected to be pretty early.

I believe Lock was a mid to late 2nd rounder in SF/2QB drafts last year and I don't think he did a ton to significantly "increase" his value...maybe at most someone trades is a late first for the guy if you have no shot at Tua/Burrow/Herbert.

On the subject of holding him, Lock has a lot of talent around him now: Sutton, Fant, Lindsay, Gordon and there are mocks out there saying they'll draft another WR "relatively" high.
