How many TEs to hold

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

How many TEs to hold

Postby YourAverageFan » Sat Apr 11, 2020 9:08 am

League is a 12 team 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1Flex (can flex TE) league with 13 bench spots. There is no K or DEF.

Right now I am holding 3 TEs
Kelce
Andrews
Goedert

I was thinking of trying shipping off a TE for a 2020 first. But I was curious how many TEs people typically hold? Can or should I go with 2 or is it safer to hold 3? We have a short bench and I typically have trouble adding waivers. It is my team in signature (for the most part). Won it 3 of last 5 years. Was thinking of moving a TE to get younger at RB.

With that roster size i don't think 3 TEs is crazy but you can get great returning assets for one of Kelce/Andrews and still have an elite TE to start and a future stud to hold in Goedert.
Team #1: 12-Team - PPR - *SF* - 4pt Pass - IDP
25 Roster + 5 Taxi | QB, RB, 2-WR, TE, SFLX, 3-FLX | DL, LB, DB
The Moore the Murray-er (2022 Champ 8-) )
QB: Burrow - Lamar - Kyler
RB: Ekeler - Saquon - Gainwell
WR: Amon Ra - Hopkins - Godwin - K.Allen- QJ - Hollywood - Diontae - Shaheed- Wandale - Woods
TE: Kelce - Engram - Ferg - Chig
DL: Hunter | LB: Okereke | DB: Bynum
'24 Picks: Late 1st, Early 2nd, Late 2nd

Team #2: 12-Team - PPR - *SF* - 6pt Pass - TE Prem
25 Roster + 5 Taxi | QB, RB, 2-WR, TE, SFLX, 3-FLX
Team #2 (0-0)
QB: Murray - Allen - Winston
RB: Cook - Saquon - Mattison - Hull
WR: Diontae - Tyreek - Lockett - Higgins - Chark - TMJ - Kirk - Dell
TE: Ertz - Engram - Mayer
'24 Picks: My 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

With Rosters of that size I would hold all three guys, injuries happen so it never hurts to have 3. Plus if you're RB or WR bye weeks line up and you need an extra guy to start all those guys are good options
Jake Fromm State Farm (12 team PPR SF)
QB: Purdy, ARich (TS), Levis (TS), Bagent, Hall, Rudolph, Fromm
RB: Roschon (TS), Allgeier, Hill, Demercado, McLaughlin, Mitchell, K. Harris, E. Wilson
WR: Addison, London, Jmo, Shaheed, Reed (TS), Pop D, Iosivas, C. Jones, Mooney, T. Palmer, Scott, Tucker, Austin, Gipson, Melton,
TE: Musgrave, Mayer (TS), Trautman, Gray, Jordan
2024: 1.01, 1.07, 2.04, 2.10, 2.11, 3.01, 3.06, 3.07, 3.11

I would hold all three easily. I would also shop them all and see what offers come.

You look like a strong contender, so I'd hold Kelce and Andrews. If you can get a 1st for Goedert, I'd sell him for that.

I did end up selling Kelce and a 2nd for T. Hill. Now I need to find a way to sell off some of my receivers for RB. I do hope it doesn't come back to hurt me losing Kelce in a championship window, but if I'm hit with injuries at the position I suppose I could trade for a TE who is hot at the time.

I was going to suggest something like this, and you did it for cheaper than I would have suspected. With so few starting positions (5 + TE), you need studs to start. You have Barkley and Godwin, and most are seeing a bounce back for OBJ. Adding a starter like Tyreek to that lineup without significantly downgrading your TE position is the way to go.

But did you sell Kelce or Andrews? Your signature no longer shows Andrews.

This entire piece may be off a bit if it’s not for the team in your sig. if there are more starters, I would’ve flexed Andrews or Kelce and played both each week.
