MFL VS SLEEPER
MFL VS SLEEPER
Evening Community,
Noticing alot more leagues using Sleeper this year.
Wondering what everyone thinks about that platform.
Maybe the negative and positives about both?
Hope you're all safe and sound and staying positive.

Re: MFL VS SLEEPER
There is a thread about Sleeper here. I use MFL. I did not care for Sleeper at all. Not enough customization, and I did not care for the overall set up and look.
Here is the link to that thread.

Yep that thread should have a lot of useful info. Im pro sleeper. I play fantasy nearly 100% from my phone. Sleeper is designed for smart device users. Their desktop version is not nearly as good.
Re: MFL VS SLEEPER
I play 100% from my phone too and vastly prefer MFL thru MFL Platinum to Sleeper.

Re: MFL VS SLEEPER
If your a phone user, sleeper is the way to go. If your on your computer MFL.
I'll tell you some highlights of why I prefer sleeper though.
- Chat system is far superior, encourages lots of league interaction and trades. My sleeper leagues are much more active than my MFL leagues.
-I prefer the grid style draft as opposed to just the list on MFL.
-Design. It's much easier on the eyes, MFL just feels like like all words on the screen. Sleeper has pictures, color everywhere. Not a huge deal but it's a plus. Player stars are easier to get to.
-Easier to Navigate. I hate those click downs on the main menu at MFL sifting through each one trying to find the transaction/information page your looking for.
Just some of my reasons

Re: MFL VS SLEEPER
I find the view of MFL way better. Customizable looks and it just looks way more professional. I know what Tom Brady looks like, I don't need to see his face in my FF league page. I thought the look of Sleeper is just cheap, but to each their own.JOHNNY_COCKTAIL wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 5:39 am If your a phone user, sleeper is the way to go. If your on your computer MFL.

For people in multiple leagues, I find Groupme a far superior chat. You can view and communicate with multiple league chat boards and owners simultaneously from one screen.

Re: MFL VS SLEEPER
The app is terrible, clunky and slow. MFL Platinum is far superior, and GroupMe is far superior for chat over both. Only plus for Sleeper over MFL is that it's free, and I really don't care about the few extra dollars on my league dues to cover the site fees when I'm getting a much better experience.
Re: MFL VS SLEEPER
Completely agree. Sleeper is sleek looking but offers little in the way of usability imo. I find it much more difficult to navigate and I think the avatars are frankly pretty dumb.FantasyFreak wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 12:57 pmI find the view of MFL way better. Bottom line, if you want to customize a league there is nothing better than MFL. Start up auctions? Done. Just a two-week finals? Got it. It has everything that Sleeper refuses to offer.

Re: MFL VS SLEEPER
This is the best way to sum it up. MFL requires a steep learning curve to set up and maintain, and it's overly complex at times. But for those of us with office jobs and always on our computers or laptops with Excel files with all our draft data etc., I much prefer MFL.JOHNNY_COCKTAIL wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 5:39 am If your a phone user, sleeper is the way to go. Sleeper is sleeker and simpler, really geared toward those who don't work desk jobs and draft/trade/do everything on their phones. However, I hate that Sleeper doesn't have email notifications for trade offers, and it's hard to even propose trades based on their UI.

Re: MFL VS SLEEPER
In July of last year, I created a Sleeper test league with some of my DLF leaguemates. Here's my notes from that time, which are still in rough form. I never polished them nor did I ever publish them here or send them to Sleeper:
My guess is Sleeper addressed some of them. But after my experience, I decided that I'd keep all of my leagues on MFL for 2020. Maybe I'll test them again this summer, but only if I'd hear a lot of my issues/suggestions were addressed.
And as a general statement, while Sleeper has a great, easy to use UI . . . I found that it had way to many minor deficiencies back in July of 2019. And I'm not talking about lack of customization. I'm talking basic functionality (see issues/suggestions above).Issues:
1. Still had to start Draft manually even though it was scheduled to begin.
2. Can’t find PreDraft function on desktop version.
3. In desktop version, Player Pool (in chatroom) doesn’t expand far enough upward. You can only see 6 players at a time, which isn’t enough. Would indeed be great if we could open it up in a separate page.
4. Trade Engine is a bit funky. A lot of my leaguemates and I think the Trade Center should ask what players you want to send to the other team, not what players you want to receive.
5. It seems that Trade Offers do not expire once a pick has been selected. So if I offer 1.03 for Tom Brady, and then I select Josh Jacobs with 1.03, the other side can still hit accept and then they get Josh Jacobs. That’s nuts.
6. During the Draft, another guy sent an offer for a player he has ALREADY drafted, but the system then only identified that player by his draft pick.
Suggestions:
• Add Double and Triple Header function.
• Add function that Draft Timer stops from 10 PM to 6 AM EST (or possibly even at times designated by commissioner).
• Make league logo and team logos larger. Maybe give the commissioner the ability to set them at three different sizes, Small Medium and Large.
• Allow for guests to view the league.
• The Draft Que should make a selection as soon as the team is on the clock, not when the clock expires. Even better would be if you could give owners the ability to select whether the Que picks at the start of their time or when it expires. But default should be at onset. The whole premise is to keep things moving.
• Add a Trade tab that is easy to access on all pages. Or have it that when you click on another team or player (anywhere) that you have the option to Trade with them or for that player.
• There needs to be a Rosters page where you can scroll through all teams’ rosters. Perhaps this will pop up once we finish our draft? Even still, it should be available during the Draft as well.
• Draft button needs to have a popup that confirms yes or no, like the Trade button
My guess is Sleeper addressed some of them. But after my experience, I decided that I'd keep all of my leagues on MFL for 2020. Maybe I'll test them again this summer, but only if I'd hear a lot of my issues/suggestions were addressed.
