I'm not sure on the year 2/22 year old ranking, but I do remember reading somewhere that his rookie season was the best season ever for a 21 year old TE not named Gronk or Aaron Hernandez.Vcize wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 9:05 pm Roster clogger is a bit of a silly term here. 56-639-4 is great for a 2nd year TE, especially a 22 year old that was considered raw coming out.
As others have pointed out Tyler Higbee was complete trash until his 42nd NFL game. Austin Hooper was fairly meh until his 50th. Njoku has played 32 games at this point, and the last time he was healthy he was looking pretty good.
I'm actually curious how Njoku's 56-639-4 season ranks all time for TEs that were that young (22). How many guys 22 or under have had a better season than that?

Njoku
Obviously injuries didn't help Njoku last season, and with the signing of Hooper things don't look good. Possibility of new scenery? Is Njoku still a hold? I have Engram, Hockenson, and Gesiki - I have had zero interest for him by other owners since I drafted him. Time to drop?

Re: Njoku
He's a hold in most leagues, although probably not in a 10 team non-PPR, where TEs are mostly worthless. Most likely Hooper and Njoku sabotage each other fighting for Landry's scraps in the shorter passing game, but Njoku is still a very good prospect at 23 years old.

Re: Njoku
He's definitely talented, but three seasons in, I don't see how we can still say he's a "very good prospect." His trajectory certainly doesn't look like it.ColdZealDonkeyStrike wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 7:50 am He's a hold in most leagues, although probably not in a 10 team non-PPR, where TEs are mostly worthless. Re: Njoku
I've been acquiring him where I can. I hope he gets traded. If not, it's going to be at least another year wait. He's still really young though.
That tight end rookie class hadn't exactly had the impact most projected it to have... Njoku, Howard, Engram.

Re: Njoku
If they move to a more 2TE set he could do some damage. Keep OBJ/Landry on the outsides and then both Hoop/Njoku on the insides. Put any of them in motion and create some chaos.

I was high on him... until last year - what a disaster, all-around. Personally, I've moved on.
Plenty enough similar options out there via cheap trades or as FA's, even if this draft's TEs are a question mark.

Re: Njoku
The team bringing in Hooper is likely end game for Njoku in Cleveland. If he’s a solid blocker, he might at least get substantial snaps, but Stefanski isn’t going to suddenly build the second coming of the Gronk/Hernandez offense.

Re: Njoku
I'm still a fan, especially at his current price. FA next year at 25yo when TEs start to produce. If he stays healthy he should make progress this year, possibly ending up in a good situation.

He’s just not very good. The writing was on the wall when Dorsey made comments about his work ethic at last years scouting combine of all places.

Can't block, can't catch the ball....usually that's not a recipe for success in the NFL.
Re: Njoku
Thanks for the input - just not doing it for me. Behind Engram/Hock/Gesiki on my team. Have had zero interest over the years for him, couldn't even add him in deals. Might just cut my losses.

Re: Njoku
Depending on what CLE is looking for, he *should be* moved at the draft. KC, NE, GB, IND, DAL could be in that mix.
Re: Njoku
I will hold and see what shakes out. If he stays in Cleveland, he will be one of my 5 drops before my draft.
