This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Julio trade

Postby dawgDYNASTY » Thu Apr 02, 2020 9:48 pm

Got a really interesting offer to get younger, but I'm in a strong win now window.

QB Rodgers, Darnold
RB Kamara, Henry, Swift, Damien, AJ Dillon, Hines
WR Julio, Keenan, Godwin, DJM, Deebo, Parris,
TE Higbee, Olsen
3 Flex league.

I give Julio + D. Henry

I get Jonathan Taylor, Sutton, Hardman, Engram

.5ppr. Which side would u rather have in my spot?

I know the draft hasnt happened and there is risk in acquiring players beforehand but it's also an opportunity to buy before the situation raises the stock further.

Nice package on paper, but for a win now hold your side.

Easily the package. IMO it's a lateral win-now move and it'll certainly look much better next year, not to think of two years out.

What do you mean by "win now window"? Was your team competitive last year, did you win the championship?

The value for the trade is probably fair, but going from Henry to Taylor and Julio to Sutton is definitely going to hurt your chances to win for this season. Might be better in the long run, but certainly not this year. Even with the upgrade at TE with Engram.

So if you think you have a legitimate chance of winning the championship this year, I'd hold Julio/Henry, unless you can get a sweetener on top of the package. But the package is the better deal long term, so I have no issues with you going that route.

The value is all on the package side. As the season starts and you wanna make a run at the championship you could flip JT easily for a veteran and 'win now', and that's assuming he doesn't have an incredible rookie season like Zeke or Barkley did... Take that deal all day.

Love this idea if you want to capitalize on that value, you can always try to flip those guys and go for better players as the offseason shakes out too.

IMO though, I'm taking the package and running even as a big Julio fan. Julio will outproduce Sutton but if Julio loses a step OR Sutton makes any kind of jump, it's much closer than you'd think. JT's landing spot hasn't been determined and could be a goldmine (keep him if he goes somewhere needing a workhorse), but even if he goes to a less than favorable team, he'll still hold his value and be flippable for a vet that better fits your window. Engram is a substantial upgrade at TE to offset some lack of production too.
