Zeke or 1.1 and 1.3?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Zeke or 1.1 and 1.3?

Postby boobam13 » Tue Mar 31, 2020 2:57 pm

Got this offer for a team that won the championship last year with

Lamar
CMC, Zeke, Drake, DJ
Nuk
Kelce

Returning this season,

do I cash in on Zeke and replace him with JT and Lamb? or do I ride this team another season to a championship?

Thanks

Personally, I won’t trade Zeke off my teams that are strong contenders, not yet, I think what I will do is maybe look into moving him during the season, if those teams underwhelm. So, I would keep him if it was my team and go for another championship.

I’d hold Zeke and make another run at another championship. Moving him hurts your chances to repeat.

I agree. If you were maybe a 3rd or 4th place team right now I would make the deal. If you're trying to repeat might as well keep Zeke. I do think that in a year or so those 2 assets will be quite nice.

I’m gonna be the devils advocate and say I’d take the picks. Why? Zeke is at peak value. It’s all downhill soon. Zeke might be the exception as the Cowboys paid him big. But look at what happened to Gurley.

Am I cocky to think I can win without Zeke and replace him in my line up with a rookie rb and the 1.3 as a flex option

Yes. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but the odds of starting two rookies and having them lead you to a championship.... incredibly unlikely.

This 100%

I am on the other side of the RB debate. Gurley is one of many examples of wisdom of selling an RB with 4+ years of workload a year early. Freeman, Bell, Gordon, David Johnson are most recent examples. Even look at Demarco Murray and LessMcCoy a few years ago. selling a year early paid huge returns.

Take the picks and run with a smile on your face. You should still get an RB1 that is 21 years old and will give you 4 years of great production. Or you could take the 1-2 years that Zeke likely has left as an RB1 and pray to God he falls in the 20% camp outliers of RBs over age 26 that produce RB1 seasons that this very website outlined so well not to long ago in a great article.

I’m taking the top talent picks in this years draft ALL DAY LONG and building my dynasty.

Im all for the move Zeke stuff, and its certainly a popular opinion in the community, but i dont see a reason to do it now rather than during / after the year. Ppl are going to talk look at DJ look at Gurley, but one was ancient entering into the NFL and the Other had major knee surgeries and Arthritis. Apples to oranges comparisons. Nevertheless this is substantial compensation. I would be fine going either way on this one.

I'd take the picks, like others have said, the value of getting out before perception starts to flip on a stud like Zeke is huge... and who is saying that that 1.01, in a stacked rookie class with some big opportunities out there (KC anyone?), won't be a quality starter this year? Probably going to be a stud, I mean just look at Jacobs last year, he was not as touted as a prospect as JT or Swift. Plus you get a beast at the WR position or another stud runner? Give me the picks.

I can see both sides, but I think Zeke gives you greatly chance to win the league this year and I'd want that money. Plus, I know absolutely nothing, but you'd think the people in Dallas would realize during Dak's career year, where he threw for a TON of yards and TDs, that still didn't equate to winning. Pretty sure they are going to use Zeke a lot more this year since last year the offense wasn't balanced (too pass happy) and that didn't pay dividends for them. Just my guess.
