Unless I'm missing something the Texans now have 2 2nds, a 3rd, 2 4ths, a 5th, & 3 7ths. Arizona's 2nd is #40 overall but I'm not sure you get a true difference maker like Nuk at that slot. They may not be done trading and might package the 2 2nds up to get into the back half of round 1.

Great time to buy a little lower. Watson is a stud but throwing to a great receivers like Hopkins can make your life easier.

Keke and Stills are very good WR’s. If Fuller can participate in at least half the season and DJ contributes well I think Watson will be fine. They may add a FA WR also, and rookie WR’s look promising. But all that said, Watson doesn’t really need an optimum situation to succeed. He’ll be fine.

I would see the Johnson's getting active in the passing game as well as run. One of those second rounders will be a WR, maybe both. Lot's of Run-Pass-Option plays this year if Houston chooses to go that route. Expect Watson to be a QB1 as long as he is healthy.

Everyone freaked out about how much Mahomes is going to make, but Watson is going to probably end up making even more over the longterm. Watson only makes a total of about $8M less over the life of this contract and remaining rookie deal than Mahomes does between now and when Watson's deal is over, but then Watson comes up for a new deal when he's turning 30, so as long as he holds up physically he's likely to get a deal that pays a lot more than the remainder of Mahomes' contract.

Overall good deal for both sides. I would still take Mahomes and his contract over Watson and his contract though.

Yeah that's what people really neglected about mahomes deal, sure he's the highest paid qb(by a lot) now and he'll be an outlier for a couple years but top qb money goes up about 3-5M per year for the past 5 years or so. Still really good for deshaun but sucks he has to stay in houston

Looks a whole lot like his old deal to me.

You sent me down a rabbit hole googling news stories... I am not seeing any actual contract details yet.

I'm sure it'll all be out in a few hours, though.

No, it has his new deal on there, thru 2025.

That page is a mess... they've got him listed as age 24 this year (he's 28) and they haven't updated his team from the Texans.

Anyway... sure looks like he's tied to Kyler until the sunset.
The deal includes $42.75M guaranteed at signing. The three years left on his current deal essentially morph into a five-year, $95 million contract with $18.8 million annually through 2024. The last year in his age-31 season is voidable, but that would force the Cardinals to pay up $39.5 million at some point upon releasing him. With no-trade and no-franchise tag clauses in place, the road has been paved for Hopkins to finish his career with Kyler Murray in Arizona.

You do realize this is the Deshaun Watson thread, not DeAndre Hopkins right....?
