I don't know if it's really people giving up too easily. He's a fourth round WR that never saw the field in year 1. Track record for WRs that don't see the field at all in year one isn't that great and combine that with low draft capital.

The price of free makes it worth it to me. There are worse guys you can roster when you get down to your 25th roster spot.

Yup Hakeem doesn’t have much value but I’d rather have him than the 300th player

What if he was taken 1 pick earlier in the 3rd. Does that make a difference?

Didn’t seem like anyone really established themselves last year though and someone has to catch passes.

My thoughts exactly. There's something to be said for them coming back and making him the first selection on Day 3, as well. They had all night to think about it, and went and got their man - despite having already drafted Isabella in the 2nd.

And exactly this. Opportunity, opportunity, opportunity. We know Kyler can sling it at a potentially elite level. There were good reports out of training camp from Kyler himself last year "I'm figuring out where Hakeem likes the ball" along with the other reports that he was raw (something we all knew).

Really, it just comes down to - what's Hakeem been doing with this time off? Personally, I'm hoping he's been going beast mode, and working with every WR coach he can find. My guess? He's p***ed off. He believes he can be the best:

As everyone else has already said... you could do so much worse for your 25th spot.

And when the Chargers draft a RB in the first round, you will see all of the Austin Ekeler owners smiles turn to frowns.

All we can do is play the game with the information that we have, in the moment. As of right now, no-one else on the Cardinals roster is better equipped physically for deep balls and Red Zone work.

If the Cards really do go Lamb instead of OL this draft then God Help Kyler. He will be, once again, running for his freakin' life.

Odd to compare unknowns with Butler and Ekeler considering Ekeler was still a RB1 last year when Melvin returned and got big contract extension last week. Not sure how Ekeler’s situation has any equivalency to a rookie who missed every game last year.

You're right, it doesn't have equivalency - only to say, that it is a theoretical that hasn't happened yet, that would change our presumed narrative on a player coming into the 2020 season.

We don't know how the draft is going to go. We can guess, and that's all. Until it happens, rostering Butler is worth our time.

Really we're gonna start this crap again? What if the 15th player taken in the fourth round was taken 15 spots higher? That changes EVERYTHING! It's a slippery slope when you start playing that what if game. He was taken where he was taken. It's an absolute not a hypothesis to be tested. And looking back at historical data WRs drafted outside the 4th haven't fared well. For every Antonio Brown there's 20 Josh Reynolds/Ryan Switzers. Add to that he never saw the field in year 1 which is another knock. He's got 2 strikes already. Does that mean he can't be one of the few success stories? No and I never said he was a bust. He's definitely worth an end of the bench flier but too many are still holding onto their predraft idea of Butler being one of the top WR in the draft and the NFL showed us otherwise.
