Where does Emmanuel Sanders rank in a rookie/FA draft?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Where does Emmanuel Sanders rank in a rookie/FA draft?

Postby Camperhead » Thu Aug 25, 2011 10:22 am

Drafting tonight and figuring I really want to take only one WR among my ten picks while stocking up on QBs and RBs (I'm required to spend two of the picks on a second kicker and second defense :x , so I'm really only talking about eight picks). I feel like there's a chance Greg Little may be available to me at 2.03 (13th overall), but that I might be better served by waiting and taking Sanders later. I assume most would say I HAVE to take Little if he's still there at the 13th pick, but DLF lists have Sanders roughly equal to Little, and I feel like Sanders could leak through to the fourth round or later.

even though QBs are quite a bit more valuable in this format i dont see little falling to the 13th pick. Hes basically the consensus 4/5 guy now that williams and leshoure are non factors. there arent really 8 or 9 qbs to push little down that far. As far as sanders goes its hard to answer your question w/o knowing the other FAs available.

Top free agent WRs in addition to Sanders figure to be Mike Williams (SEA), Jerome Simpson, Davone Bess, Braylon Edwards, Plaxico Burress, both Steve Smiths and Santana Moss.

But I've already established in my mind that Sanders is the most desirable among those. Just wondering how his desirability fits in among the rookies -- and thus how high a pick I would expect to have to spend on him. If Little, Cobb and Torrey Smith are the consensus 3, 4, and 5 among rookie WRs (for example), I see Sanders as slotting just a hair below Little (who I guarantee will not go in the top 5 in this draft, unless something really weird happens and I have to take him at 1.05).

I'd want B.Edwards from that list.

I just see very little point in selecting any of those to be -- at absolute best -- my No. 4 WR. I only plan to devote one draft pick to a WR, and I'd prefer it to be an up-and-comer.

Little went at pick 11 in a superflex I'm doing pre-Williams injury. Gabbert/Newton/Kaepernick/Locker all got picked before Little. Cobb went in the 2nd and Torrey/Brown are still there at 4.1 OTC.

I see Sanders as closer to Vince Brown than Cobb/Torrey in value. I think Antonio Brown's improvement and Hines Ward still sticking around hurts him. I guess I would rather have Little in the 2nd than Sanders in the 4th, if that is the main question. I would rather have Little/Beck than Ponder/Sanders.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm getting at.

To expand upon the point, I'm actually thinking Little/Kaepernick (yes, major reach) at 13 and 15, but wondering if I should just go Kaepernick and best available RB, then settle for something like Sanders as my WR pick later on. It's all a moot point if Little isn't there at 13, which I realize he should NOT be.

And that was pretty much how it worked out, though we got blind-sided on Kaepernick:
