AussieMate wrote: Sun Feb 16, 2020 2:55 pm Not sure if a thread like this exists but I was curious if anyone had any predictions for the upcoming combine.

I stated it in another thread but I think there is a good chance both Dobbins and Taylor out perform Akers.
No chance Ruggs breaks the 40 record, he honestly doesn't look that fast to me.
Reagor will destroy the combine and boost his stock more than any other player.
CEH will perform better than expected and raise his stock as well.
Shenault will get hurt on his first test and miss the rest of the combine.
All anyone will talk about all combine is Jeudy's BMI
and the most important one, all my predictions will be wrong because I don't know what i'm talking about.
I don't think he breaks the record, but he supposedly hit 24.3 MPH at top speed on this play. That's fast.

All the top RBs (Akers, Taylor, Dobbins, and Swift) will have good/amazing combines. Jeudy runs a 4.55 40. Bryan Edwards blows up the explosiveness drills, benches like 20 reps, and just runs a 4.55 pulling a Michael Thomas. CEH runs a 4.4 and overall does nothing else like Dalvin. Ruggs runs under 4.3, but still sucks at being a WR. I realize I just waited my time thinking about this when I should have been studying
I may or may not be related to Bryan Edwards

There will be a "______ is your 1.01 now" thread created after someone has a great combine (or at least 40 yard dash) just like happened with DK last year.

Probably. Hopefully they will have a bad 3 cone, and then we can debate that, too. All the while, the real 1.01 will be someone else, just like last year. Then a year later people will try and prop up their 1.03 pick to say they are better than the 1.01, just like this year.

It's a good conversation starter, though.

Hahaha

My Take is any WR 6'1" or over that runs a 3-cone would be foolish.

He's widely considered the top back right now, so not sure how he can climb much higher. (Unless you are Matt Waldman  ) Tons of people have him at the 1.01. With Taylor's track history, and Dobbins being a 99th percentile SparQ athlete coming into college, I'm going to guess the opposite. I don't think Swift tests as well as the other 2.

EDIT: I forgot Swift has a solid track background too, so I think he breaks 4.50.

I think Taylor and Shenault are the big risers. Taylor looks like he will test like Nick Chubb with a bit better 40 time. I bet he's the majority's RB1 after the combine.
Shenault looks like a guy that will fill out the combine box sheet. I think he'll come out with a plus grade for size (over 215 lbs.), speed (sub 4.5), vertical (38+"), and 3-cone (sub 7), and becomes the favorite for WR3 over Reagor, Higgins, etc.
2 relatively disappointing WRs from the state of Michigan: Donovan People Jones and Cody White, will come in big and athletic, and will be trendy risers after the draft.
Tua does nothing but talk, but it's enough to guarantee he goes top 3, with a strong chance someone gives up a haul for pick 2 to get him.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

Interesting take considering his rookie ADP is already 1.01 and his startup ADP is 27th. How high do you think he’ll rise after the combine?

I question how much of an athlete he really is. I think his 40 coming into college was a 4.59, and that's hand timed, so really like a 4.64, and he had a 31 inch vertical. Obviously he's gotten bigger and stronger, but I just don't know that he blows up the combine as some are predicting.

JK Dobbins should have a good showing, if he's still half the athlete he was coming out of HS.

not having a go at you, but i've seen this a lot of times: hand timing is of course unreliable, but why always in the same direction?
couldn't it actually be 4.54?

i also don't get why 40 times are so important, if you have the shits or just didn't sleep well you could easily lose some fractions of a second. ok as a broad indication, but not the be all end all it seems to be.

Very solid! I'm excited to see how he shows at the combine then! I still expect my top 3 to be Taylor, Dobbins, then Swift at RB.

You've apparently been missing the giant hate fest going on with Swift in forums (not this one) and Twitter. It started with PFF. The trendy thing to say is that Swift is no better than RB3 or even RB4 in this class

His combine will remind those people why he is the 1.01
