Kolb or Stafford

Postby skip » Thu Aug 18, 2011 5:30 am

Been having an owner breathing down my neck trying to get a trade done that I am just not happy doing so I am looking at alternatives. Right now I am rostering Kolb and an wondering what the consensus out there is between he and Stafford as to which you would rather own and why.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

I voted for Kolb but I was pretty torn. I think until Stafford can prove he wont spend half the year on the IR then maybe I pick him. They both have elite talents at WR, but I think at the end of the deal I like Kolbs chances to stay upright (tho granted he lost his job last year because the packers knocked him out week 1!)

If I was guaranteed Stafford would be healthy he would be my pick. I just don't trust him to though. Kolb has a lot of upside as well especially with Fitz to throw to.

IMO Stafford looked great last year in his 2 games he played. He has better weapons around him too. Kolb had weapons around him last year and I didn't think he was anything special. He was Good but not great like Stafford.

I guess I'm more of a risk taker and went with Stafford, just something about the kid that says stud. Like the others, but maybe not as much, I am concerned with his shoulder.

I'm interested in QB1 production. I understand Stafford has been injured, but he's an elite talent that will post top QB numbers. 4000+ and 30+ for a full season. I'll take my chances with Stafford over Kolb for sure. Currently neither are a QB1 so you should have another starter currently rostered. Stafford has the weapons to post huge numbers that could rival Rodgers, Rivers, Brees etc.

I'd take stafford by a lot. if stafford pays a whole season he is your qb1 with cutler as good insurance. Kolb is qb2 at best possibly 3 depending on orton. Last year was supposed to be kolbs coming out party and all he showed was that he is streaky at best. Stafford proved to be stud like just with the weakest shoulders man kind has ever seen. The lions will only get better and arizona could potentially lose there biggest weapon to free agency soon.

I'd rather have Stafford than Kolb. You'll need to build good QB depth, but the potential payoff is much more significant than rostering Kolb.

Not really a Kolb fan. Could be adequate, but the chance to underperform current expectations is more likely than meeting them, never mind exceeding.

Agree with this completely. Give me the riskier guy that could post elite production over the potentially safer guy with less upside any day.

another vote for stafford. he has the talent, the weapons to be a absolute STUD. Plus the opportunity since the lions are 1 of the most pass heavy offenses in the NFL.

I like Stafford's ability as a passer a lot. I don't like the Detroit offensive line or Stafford's ability to remain healthy. And, while Arizona's offensive line isn't great, either, I trust Kolb more. While both QBs are young and clear starters for their teams Kolb is a bit 'safer'. Stafford is more of a 'swing for the fences' type. Stafford has an elite arm, but staying healthy is also somewhat of a skill - a skill Stafford has yet to display in the NFL. Depending on your other QBs, I might take the higher upside player in Stafford in a calculated risk. If you have to count on either one to be your starter or a critical backup to your main starter, I'd lean towards Kolb.

Stafford and it isn't close.

When it's all said and done, Stafford will have an elite career and Kolb will have a good one.
