Put in a waiver claim for Thomas. Should I drop Jonnu Smith or Jared cook? Not in playoffs so if I were to keep cook it would be hoping he has a big role in the offense next year

Cook is the better drop long term in my opinion. If trades are still open, can you move him?

I would drop Smith myself. I think Cook has more upside in that Saints offense, playing with Brees. Smith has not produced like I expected him to this year. Walker has been hurt and Jonnu has really struggled. He wasn't even the best TE on his own team this past week. I'd be fine dropping either one for Thomas though, I like Thomas better than both.

there's uncertainty in the offence going forward at QB but he has been hyped as a TE stash for a while. Owners would probably want like a late 2nd maybe? I really don't know how to value him

Smith just had a pretty good year and will more than likely be the starter next year. What's Thomas done to warrant him being more valuable? He's had plenty of opportunities with Olsen missing time and hasn't impressed much.

Week 14-17 in 2018 Olsen was out Ian was the #6 TE his rookie year.. Week 14-15 in 2019 Olsen was out Ian was the #10 TE scoring 16.70 and bad game of 4.30 , but look at the QB he had this year compared to last year with Cam , I know they are small sample sizes but if Cam is back and Olsen is gone I think Ian will be around TE 5-8

He's had one good game all year. I also think it's weird that he had 1 catch for 4 yards the first 11 weeks of the season. Olsen being healthy or not (and regardless of the QB situation), there are plenty of other backup TEs who had more than 1 catch during that span. I'm sure he'll have some weeks where he puts up decent numbers due to volume if he's the starting TE, but I don't think he's more talented than a guy like Jonnu.

At this stage I’m holding him unless I can get a 2020 2nd.

He has drawn some interest in my league but most are still valuing him at a 2020 3rd.

Next year will be interesting should Olsen retire, I’ve seen enough from Thomas to think he could be a decent fantasy TE but not elite.

I mean if he isn't on the field he can't catch a pass , He pretty much played 2 games that's it this year , Last year in 3 of his 4 starts he put up 14 points or more.. Even if he isn't a real good TE the fact of the matter is if Cam is back he is going to pepper the TE with targets. TBH everyone but me said someone like Waller , Parker and Drake stunk but look at them with opportunity , Opportunity is almost as important as talent.

I am stashing Ian Thomas, hopefully he takes over next year. But given that he wasn't on the field basically at all during the first half of his 2nd year while healthy is a red flag. from weeks 1 - 12 he was around a 10% snap count. Could things change in 12 months? Of course. If Olsen retires and Carolina doesn't draft a "move" TE / bring some other vet in then his value goes up. Until that he is a dart throw and not someone I would pay much for.
