Help another playoff team?

Trade deadline in a few hours. I'm in the playoffs. Another team has no TE (also in the playoffs) but is the highest scoring team on the season (I'm 2nd highest). I think I can get him to overpay for a TE- maybe something like Ryan Griffin or Kyle Rudolph for John Brown or for a late 1st. Would you take that, or is him being weak at TE for the playoffs more valuable?

It looks like it’s a TE premium. Don’t think I like the idea of helping the strongest team, get stronger. It’s not a top pick, most likely 1.11/1.12. Why strengthen your opponent. If anything, I am trying to weaken his team. Is a late 1st, worth potently losing a title. As Herm said, you play to win the game.

The odds that this te you give him is the difference in beating you in the finals, assuming you even get there, is slim. If you can get him to do something stupid and weaken his team for the future while strengthening your own team then do it.

I'd move either of those TEs for a 1st very easily, regardless of his team makeup.

the thought of passing on a first because you dont want a competitor to have a throw away TE is asinine

That's your opinion, which is fine, but that doesn't mean it's 100% the correct answer. No need to be arrogant in calling it "asinine" to not make this trade.

If it were my team, and I lost the title anyway and didn't get the 1st, I lost out on some value, which sucks, but it's not the end of the world. If I lost the title because another contender used a TE that I sold to him, I would be livid.

It's pretty easy to overestimate how much one player improves a team. The chances of Griffin losing you a head to head vs him/him winning because he has Griffin over whatever replacement he'd be using is extremely small. I'd very easily take a first and be able to accept the very unlikely reality I lost a statistically significant amount of EV.

If you can get a 1st for Griffin, I’d do that easy. He could easily end up with a better TE from a rebuilding team. Take the first and hopefully prevent him from getting an elite TE

I didn't say that. My point is that it's situationally dependent. We don't know how strong this team is in OP's league. All I'm saying is it's not as easy as "take the 1st".

That's a good point. The guy can easily get a better TE elsewhere. You might as well be the one who profits from it.
