Time to buy Brandin Cooks?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Time to buy Brandin Cooks?

Postby SWIMball » Tue Dec 03, 2019 2:24 pm

Seems like a solid buy low, but is there any reason to think he's trending down long term, or will he bounce back to where he's been?

The two primary concerns with Cooks are his concussion history and Goff's inability to target Cooks under pressure, as Cooks generally runs the deeper routes of the LAR WRs. Goff is similar to Carr in that he can play well with good pass protection but crumbles / checks down when pressured. The whole LAR offense could bounce back if they can fix the offensive line in the offseason, but that's not a given.

As of right now, given the hype around the 2020 rookie class making 2020 1sts incredibly valuable, I would pay a 2nd for Cooks but not a 1st.

This all right here. Maybe maybe a late first in the right scenario

A 2nd is worth the gamble, but I would not buy Cooks for a 1st.

If you can get him for a 2nd, then yes, great buy low opportunity. Not sure owners would sell for that though. Maybe closer to your rookie draft when rookie fever hits.

I own Cooks and would not sell for a 2nd (but would for any 1st), but I imagine there are a lot of frustrated owners who would take a high or even mid 2nd. Definitely worth a shot

I traded David Johnson for him a few weeks ago. Prior to this year Cooks had 4 straight seasons with over 1,000 yards and 5+ TDs.

I'm hoping the Rams can sort their offence out for next year...

I saw him and Jordan Howard traded before wk 13 for a random first and third . Dude was on the playoff bubble and missed! The first turned out to be the 1.03 and the third is the 3.03! Lol. But yeah I’m not trading him for a second. I’d rather hold then trade for a second and take a shot in the dark to hope to get 1/2 the player Cooks is in rd 2. He’s 26 and has 3/4 more prime years left barring concussion complications. Good buy-low for any second imo.

YES - he is a screaming buy right now. In one league I was able to get him for a 2020 3rd + Mecole Hardman.

1. Just turned 26 years old
2. Before this year he had 4 straight 1,000 yard seasons while averaging 76 catches and 7 TDs
3. While the Rams offense may not be a juggernaut anymore, the situation is still very much above average
4. It is so rare for a 26 year old productive player to retire due to head injuries.

He should be a high end WR2 for the next few years and I think he quickly regains the value he just had this offseason. Any late 1st is great value and even a mid 1st is completely reasonable

I’ve been a huge cooks fan for years but I sold him a few weeks ago for a 2020 1st.

I would buy him for a mid 2nd anymore and I’m staying away.

Personally I see him as a volatile WR2, he will have boom weeks, but certainly not a guy would like to have to trust, I’m thinking a DJax kind of guy moving forward.
