Baker trade in SF

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Baker trade in SF

Postby Hankybro21 » Thu Nov 14, 2019 5:34 pm

Team 2. Im pretty sure I know the answer here but always value the feedback of this group.

Baker owner is trying to offload him. Came to me and asked for a 2020 1st for him. For context, I’m in rebuild and have solid draft capital next year. If the season ended today, I’d have picks 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 12, and 13. I don’t anticipate much, if any, change, especially with me having 1-3.

I know the answer is to hold and wait for the picks to increase in value. I’m mainly wondering if a second would be a reasonable price for Baker if I can get it done. I have Watson and Wilson and will draft one of Tua or Burrow...maybe both depending on the board. I also very likely have 1.01 or 1.02 for 2021 for Fields or Lawrence. Is baker worth a purchase here? Or just stick to the plan and build through draft?

Your rebuild should look really nice coming out of the draft. However, if you can get Mayfield for one of your late 1sts, I think it's worth the gamble. His value could rebound and go sky high again.

Agreed. This year is a write off for many reasons, from coaching to OL, to his own struggles. Next season can mean skyrocketing value and i think paying a first for that is well worth the price.

Baker is worth a mid 1st sill....he was going in round 2-3 of startup drafts 2 months ago. Getting him for a late 1st is a huge win.

Looks like it’d be one of 1.06/1.07/1.08 for baker. I tried to talk him into the worst of my 1sts but he wouldn’t agree. The pick we are discussing will very likely be within that range. Prolly 1.07, small chance at 1.06 or 1.08. Worth it?

Yes. I have Baker in SF and would laugh in the face of anybody offering me the 1.07 for him. Recency bias is real and this how you pick up a reliable QB for years to come by dumping a mid-first crapshoot pick.

Okay fair enough. I’ve spent the entire season piling up 2020 1sts with this team so they’re tough to part with. But I think you’re right here.

If I make this trade and stick to my 1st round draft board then I’ll most likely end up with jeudy and lamb at WR, swift and Taylor at RB, and Tua/Burrow and Baker at QB.

Baker is worth a mid 1st in a SF, but I'm not sure I'd pay it. You already have Russell and Watson and should be drafting at least one of the top QBs coming out. Unless you can get Baker and flip him for something else, I'd rather hold the pick...I'm also not a big Baker guy, so take all that with a grain of salt.

Appreciate the input. I'm still debating it. I think I've made peace with the fact that the value would certainly be there, it's more of an equation of team need at this point since I'll grab Tua or Burrow for sure.

I may be in the minority but I would instantly decline anything outside a 1.3 for Baker and I don't like or own the guy.

Young? Check. Starter? Check. Potential for value increase? Check.

It makes no sense to move on from him for some random late first. If you can get that done I curse you for not already doing it.

Easily Baker here for any mid-to-late 1st in SF.

I'd counter for the two late 1sts, due to how many rookies you could pick and choose with what looks like 6 of the first 7 selections. If that isn't acceptable to your trade partner, I agree the value is there for that 1.07ish pick because Baker will have trade value.
