Re: Week 11 Discussion
Last thing I'll throw out I agree with some of the guys on First Take this morning. If that helmet is turned just a little bit different and he hits him with the crown of the helmet, this man who just had a concussion has his head split open or is even just knocked out on the field. This man never plays another down of football again in his life and they'd be talking about how much prison time he was going to serve this morning

Re: Week 11 Discussion
Rudolph's representation is already saying that legal action against Garrett is possible, if it had resulted in something truly bad it would have been an almost certainty. That was assault with a deadly weapon, and being on a football field does not give license for something like that.

Re: Week 11 Discussion
This is the part I disagree with. The initial hit by Garrett is a hit we see weekly at every level of football. Was it late/unnecessary considering the time remaining and score? Sure, but nothing to see there. Rudolph takes exception and tries to put Garrett in a headlock and Garrett then grabs Rudolph's face mask. Again how often do we see 2 guys get into it grabbing each other's helmets? That isn't uncommon and also happens with regularity. Flags are thrown and we move on.
The escalation to me happened when Rudolph cleats Garrett in the nuts and then runs up on Garrett after the helmet is off. Obviously we are talking semantics I suppose, but Garrett's "response" was extreme and absolutely unacceptable. Rudolph is the one that continued to escalate it to an extreme and absolutely unacceptable level.
I'm a fan of neither team and I don't feel any type of way towards either organization but I do hope Rudolph is punished for his involvement here.
Re: Week 11 Discussion
Garrett used a helmet as a weapon against Rudolph's exposed and unprotected head.... fights happen in the NFL, and I acknowledged Rudolph absolutely carries some blame, but Garrett's actions were well over the line.
Re: Week 11 Discussion
I can't believe there are people trying to defend or rationalize what Garrett did...
Re: Week 11 Discussion
Perhaps my choice of words was in the incorrect order. Let me rephrase: Rudolph deserved to get roughed up, and the retaliation in itself was called for - but the actions from Garrett were excessive them self. In other words, if Garrett had punched Rudolph in the face - I felt that would have been more appropriate (and fully deserved) although people probably still would have lost their minds.BigJoeWall72 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 9:57 amI'm sorry, what? Am I reading that correctly that you think Rudolph deserved to have a heavy object swung at his exposed head on a football field? Because that's how that reads... What in the world? That literally could have inflicted permanent brain damage or worse if it was twisted a little different or hit him in a little different spot...
That's... the worst take ever on this website?
Also - how is Rudolph not getting suspended?
Oh right - he's a quarterback.
Serious question, has a quarterback ever been suspended for on-field conduct?

Re: Week 11 Discussion
Then we agree. I just think Rudolph is skating by on this and not taking any sort of heat for his involvement.
Re: Week 11 Discussion
I can't think of one, and you're right. The initial stuff by Rudolph deserves nothing. It's what we see all the time. The other stuff, well...Phaded wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 10:33 amPerhaps my choice of words was in the incorrect order. Re: Week 11 Discussion
I'm fine with 0 suspension for Rudolph. He was already punished enough with an inaccurate arm and piss poor decision making
Re: Week 11 Discussion
Damarius Randall expected to avoid a suspension for that helmet-to-helmet hit.

Re: Week 11 Discussion
That doesn't really apply here though, as it's not like Garrett aimed the helmet in a way to hit Rudolph with the "soft" side. Garrett (and Rudolph) just got very, very lucky that the hit didn't turn out to be as bad as it could have easily been, which doesn't make the outcome any less serious.killer_of_giants wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 10:20 amand if my aunty had bollocks...JOHNNY_COCKTAIL wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 10:17 amIf that helmet is turned just a little bit different and he hits him with the crown of the helmet...
It just means he's not facing jail time.

Re: Week 11 Discussion
Point is Garrett tried to hurt another player with what counts as a weapon and was punished as such (and might be charged outside the game as well). Whether or not he actually caused a skull fracture or - as in this case - just a minor bruise is irrelevant, as the intent was the same.killer_of_giants wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 11:20 amit's not like my auntie decided to be born without a ballsack either, what's your point?qazxswedcvfrtgbnhyuj wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 11:14 amThat doesn't really apply here though, as it's not like Garrett aimed the helmet in a way to hit Rudolph with the "soft" side.
