Correct, I haven't seen a "special" player; he looks very good though. Less of a talent than Saquon or Zeke or Kamara, certainly better than Peyton Barber/Alex Collins/Jordan Howard types.

Christopher Harris comps him to Doug Martin in his prime, which is quite a nice compliment. I also see a slightly less explosive Nick Chubb when I watch Jacobs.

I own Jacobs, def wouldnt put him in the special category yet, but lets also remember many were saying CMC wasnt a real runner after his rookie year. I do really like what ive seen when Jacobs does catch the ball though and i think he can get there, just give him time.

Reminds me of Emmitt. He's a not a special athlete, but he does everything well. He has great vision, and always seems to get that extra few yards. He run you over or make you miss. I don't really know what special is exactly, but Jacobs should produce for years, and that's really what matters to me.

Great vision, power and a little more agility than you expect. We’ll see how his pass protection and route running develop, but he’s got the potential to be special.

The moral of this story is to never listen to Matt Kelley. He thinks he’s an oracle because of his size adjusted speed and agility scores and completely wrecks tape grinders.

I think WRs analytics have much more relevance statistically, but with RBs I believe the tape/draft capital will always be the deciding factor.

Back to the point, please please don’t listen to Matt Kelley. He straight up said Damien Williams was worth a 3rd round startup pick, over Josh Jacobs...

I agree with you based on the standard testing criteria. But if RBs were evaluated using different tests, I think you’d get better predictive data. 40 yard times are a good indicator of a WR or TE big play ability, but rather meaningless for a RB. However, 10- or 20-yard splits for a RB, I suspect, are pretty telling.

Two other metrics that I think should be evaluated when scouting players is top overall speed and duration sustaining >90% of top speed. IMO, that would tell you which players (WR, RB, or TE) will be a big play guy in NFL. I’m sure NFL teams have this data, but it’d be nice if it were shared with us geeks ... wow, I just type “geeks” .... probably first time that word has been used on the internet since 1999. Man, I’m old as sh$t.

He was also leading the Godwin charge a few weeks ago when Evans had his goose egg. BTW, he brags about how he doesn't watch the games. That should tell you something.

Yeah I’m still relatively new to Dynasty, only been playing for 3 years, but when I started listening to his commentary you can tell he has zero clue. His take on “coach-centric analysis” is another fail.

Every analyst makes mistakes and the “not watching the games” thing is clearly a schtick. I don’t listen to everything Kelly says, just like I don’t listen to everything Ryan McDowell says or Dynasty Rich or Izzy...

It is a bit. He doesn't watch enough, though. He discounts players like Jacobs etc. pre draft because he doesn't respect film analysis. I understand his schtick. Just like the pro wrestling style aspect of his podcast, and how he calls out other podcasters/analysts. I find him entertaining sometimes, and other times I can't stomach it, but I don't really listen to much of his advice on players.
