Baker/Darnold 2QB Trade

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Baker/Darnold 2QB Trade

Postby chadwilliam » Thu Nov 07, 2019 4:42 am

In my 10 Team H2H 2QB League I was offered the following trade -

I send - Sam Darnold, Melvin Gordon, and a 2020 Late 1st
I receive - Baker Mayfield and DJ Moore

Overall, I am looking to upgrade my QB position and get younger at my RB or WR. I currently have three other 2020 1sts that project to be in the top half of the draft. Is this trade worth making? My team is in my signature. Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
10 Team PPR 2QB Roster (Keep 20) (2QB/2RB/2WR/2TE/2FLEX) (As of 11/7):

QB: Wilson, Burrow, Herbert, Prescott (IR)
RB: Barkley (IR), Henry, Taylor, Dobbins, Bell, Bernard, Howard
WR: Metcalf, AJ Brown, Hill, Lamb, Jefferson, Lockett, Shenault Jr., Pittman Jr., Crowder, Green,
TE: Fant, Hockenson, Ertz (IR)

2021 picks - 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd
2022 picks - 1st, 1st, 1st, 4th

I'd look elsewhere. I don't really see how this trade benefits you in either the short term or long term.

I actually like this trade. I assume youre also scared of the long term potential of MG and Sam. Its always best to sell guys that you think will plummet even further, even if at a present loss. There's nothing worse than waiting on a rebound you think isn't even going to happen or trying to find a guy out there willing to pay par value. I think you get a much better long term asset at QB and DJ Moore looks like a stud. Maybe try and lower the price but i like that you're doing here.

I could see making this deal if you believe in Mayfield long term. Where we are today, this is an overpay. Mayfield has regressed big time.

I'd do it. I like Baker over Darnold and Moore over Gordon long term. I think the gap between the respective two is more than a late first combined.

Baker = Darnold is really aggressive. Dont see how that can be justified whatsoever. I mean this season Baker is still putting up Darnold's career average Fantasy PPG, and its pretty obvious this is not a "good year" for Baker.

In a 1QB league, neither is worth much. Whether or not someone thinks Baker is worth more, the difference is negligible. It's like saying a mid/late 2nd is worth more than a late 2nd.
